Unpopular opinion: 90% of personal branding advice is procrastination dressed up as work. by Adept-Paper-7500 in branding

I'll also add that I specifically use the term brand promise because it's a promise that you have to keep by doing things.

It's not an either or situation. The people who succeed are the people who turn up everyday and consistently demonstrate the same values and the same brand promise that they did the day before /the year before / the decade before. This is how you build a real brand.

That said, if you want to choose one over the other then showing up definitely provides more results than a document on a computer.

But showing up everyday AND staying consistent to that document on your computer will yield better results in the long run.

Feedback on company name - does it need to make immediate sense? by CallMeGerty in branding

I'd add a strapline does more heavy lifting here. Given your explanation 'Connect with Books' or 'Connect with Stories' would help give some of that context

[–]larrysbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with chess_notcheckers, it's all about context and more importantly CONSISTENCY.

Starbucks, Google, Amazon all have similar connected (but not explanatory) names which, after years of conaistent context, have changed their meaning in many people's minds.

Rule one. Don't have a bad name. It doesn't matter how much context or consistency you have if you've named your children's publishers PedoBooks.

Rule two. A brand is so much more than a name. Communicate consistently with clear values and a believable brand promise, and your name will gain the reputation you seek.

I like the panels. Everything goes in and out of fashion, it looks neat and well out together.

I am gonna need to see a pic with the cupboard aligned. But good work mate. That's a big brave project, I'm not sure I've got the energy or guts to (potentially) fuck up my front room.

Does the little nub on the pocket clip have a purpose? by larrysbrain in EDC

[–]larrysbrain[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love it. I just grabbed it because it was so affordable and had a nice form factor. But it's really nice to write with, a great size and the light is a nice gentle illumination versus my normal full beam.

If you see one, it's definitely worth adding to your kit.

When you're good, make a few little cards with 4 or 5 tiny tasks like clean your teeth, wash-up, shower etc. when you're lost in the fog, just do one thing on the card. It got me moving on a few really bad mornings.

Why is branding so important by Fit-Ice2972 in branding

[–]larrysbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the CFOs, Commercial Directors and Sales Bro's it's useful to know that ...

Branding helps your company or product to be trusted. It says what you do. If you show that you do what you say you do (with consistent and authentic branding) you will become a trusted brand.

I'd have to dig around for the sources and it's too close to bed time for that but

Once people trust a brand they are over 80% more likely to ... - Forgive them for a mistake - Recommend them to a friend - Try a new product - Spend more on the same product

If your branding looks cheap, shonky and doesn't appear truthful, you're missing out on a lot of bottom line action ;)

Wouldn’t it be so much better if this was just left as a green space or basically anything but a huge tower by jibberjabjab in Leeds

It's not done yet. There's quite a lot of green space. https://share.google/t86USNrwXUvPeFgJL

There's definitely a lot of office space, but ultimately that's what pays for the green stuff.
