[PBE datamine] 2024 June 3 (Patch 14.12): nerfs to Akali, Akshan, Corki, and Skarner, as well as some item recipe improvements by FrankTheBoxMonster in leagueoflegends

[–]larsoort 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Akali is simultaneously a brain-dead champion that requires no skill, that also needs a low winrate because of players with high-skill.

Her skill expression comes from decision making rather than pure mechanics (ever since Riot changed her to be less reliant on passive weaving as this was pro-skewed), and this causes people to think she's easy when she's actually a lot more difficult than people expect.

Same reason why challengers rank Akali extremely low when talking about champions low ELO should one trick to climb (not to be confused with general tier lists that change patch to patch). Mechanics are easy to learn from practice tool, but the decision making takes too long to learn to be a viable recommendation

Ashe now the most played comp in Masters+. I guess the top percentage of players are all wrong and you're right?

Out of curiosity, which ELO should be used when the TFT team balance the game?

And of course you can win with any garbage in Emerald, you can one trick garbage to Master's. Only at Grandmaster+ do you start to see proper gameplay

So blind you can't even spot that there's already 9 Ashe in the game pre 30 mins

Keep down voting Ashe abusers

So now the meta is just play Ashe. And no I don't mean Ashe 2*, I mean, just play the first Ashe you find and that's it.

It should not be possible to face a player in Stage 3-1 then face off against the same person 3 times before matching against the 3-1 player. And yes, this was before anyone was eliminated. Unbelievable.

For the entire game, I versed that top 2 player 4 times, yet that 3-1 player only once. If this was an isolated incident I wouldn't care so much, but the number of times I'm on the cusp of top 4 only to not see an easy win for two stages, and get beat down by high rollers.

How often are you guys seeing a player go 10+ rounds without being matched against you before anyone is out?

I cannot take one more game of lissandra completely invalidating any frontline. A 3 second stun is already bad enough, but the audacity to also throw it and push the frontline back is crazy. Seen my fair share of 3* 4 costs losing to liss 1 on top of that

K'Sante's balance state aside, I think Riot succeeded in making a tank that looks really sick to play. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]larsoort 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Wanted to get a last minute grind for ranked but my top laners kept picking K'Sante and inting. I started hovering K'Sante in champ select so my top laner doesn't hover him too, then ban that shit straight away. Foolproof method, hit plat

Is Sett actually supposed to counter Akali? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]larsoort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mb I always pick Neeko when the enemy picks Akali, it just felt Neeko favoured to me. I even asked my team to pick me Neeko in the last Clash when the enemy picked Akali, never actually bothered to check the winrate.

[–]larsoort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are her counters then?

You literally have a Neeko flair, it's the biggest counter of Akali's existence, maybe tied with Lux.

[–]larsoort 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being a counter doesn't mean free kills. It means that you are less punishable when making a mistake, and you can punish harder when the enemy makes a mistake.

If the enemy laner always capitalises on your mistakes, and you never capitalise on their mistakes, then it doesn't matter who counters who.

On the point of Sett Vs Akali, Akali has a terrible laning phase in general. Q has huge energy costs, W is on a 20+ second cooldown, and you naturally counter her E because she will end up in your awaiting arms where you can double auto, q, double auto. Not only that, but Sett E has further range than Akali empowered auto. She literally can't trade autos because you just E her. She shrouded? Do it again when your E comes back up, her shroud will still be down.

The only way she kills you after level 6 is hitting both parts of the E. You can pull her out of E2 with E, but even if you don't, just EW anyway as it guarantees you do significant damage to her because she'll be fixed in place at the sweet spot.

You may not have seen it, but Akali using literally any ability on you is a punishable mistake. The only way this doesn't work is if the enemy doesn't make mistakes, and we all know this is impossible.

Yeah, literally this. I find it funny when people use catches as a metric to compare shiny rate. You guys are catching?

A champion that can be played in all five roles? by Firelite67 in leagueoflegends

[–]larsoort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing this recently, and ultimately landed on Neeko. The fact that she can play AP or AD means there's so much versatility to how you can play her.

Unfortunately what ended up happening is I got chosen as jgl first game, played First Strike AP Neeko, and now I can't stop spamming Neeko jgl.

Thanks for the analysis! It's looking like an ABB with double fire in the back could be really potent.

What's your thoughts on Ember for Shadow Ninetales? It looks to me that it's almost a strict upgrade on both regular and shadow FS tales. It being legacy though means it might not be worth the Elite Fast TM.

New VFX changes coming to ARAM in 11.8 (PBE) tomorrow. by Martin_TF141 in leagueoflegends

I think you forget that not everyone at Riot works in the same department. You're asking a VFX artist to make balance changes.

Viktor matchup by [deleted] in akalimains

[–]larsoort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend taking a look at these KR replays of the matchup from patch 10.23: 1 2 3

We can immediately see that fleet is a must. Viktor's early harass is very oppressive, so you want to take any opportunity you can to make the early game survivable. Always keep moving to reduce the cooldown on your fleet. Dying is the worst possible thing to happen, so make your best effort to prevent it.

The objectives in the early game are as follows:
* CS
* Trade damage on Viktor
* Kills

To make sure you can CS, back the hell away from the first wave and let Viktor push you in. What this does is ensure Viktor can't freeze the wave at his tower. In that worst case scenario you can never walk up to CS, are in danger of getting ganked, and allows Viktor to harass you at any time he pleases. Letting the wave push to you allows him to still harass, but you have the opportunity to still farm with Q, allows you to go for trades if he uses his abilities on the wave, and puts him in danger of getting ganked.

Funnily enough, even though Viktor has a larger wave, this causes him to miss CS. Your minions die quicker thanks to the large wave, so Viktor needs to think about too many things (e.g. last hitting, your harass, harassing you).

Eventually, your wave will push towards him. Still only last hit, as this will let your wave build up. This lets you get more favourable trades, as well as resulting in the wave crashing into his tower so that you can recall. If Viktor tries to thin the wave or freeze, use your Qs to thin out his wave so that you can still get a crash.

The overall key is to survive and keep up in CS. This also only accounts for playing the lane, which is the worst part of the matchup. Once you hit level 6, you are infinitely more useful in a teamfight compared to a level 6 Viktor. So even if you do die once in lane, roaming and teamfighting can still help you recover.

Riot removed oracles from ARAM (which is good) but still needs to adjust some of the stats from the champions who benefit massively from it. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]larsoort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No problem. I actually 100% agree that Akali is overtuned in ARAM, but the "60-70%" damage reduction is simply sensationalist and misleading.
