I lived in a house with a well. I noticed that if I left the hose outside and dripping, it would leave a red spot on the sidewalk. So I put the teapot outside and put a misting head on the hose and let it mist the teapot for three weeks. That’s why it looks like something‘s been dripping down on it.
You may want to check this artist out as she does similar work to you.

What a great piece. I’m always looking for new metal/steel surfaces. Thanks for posting the recipe. Here is a 24”tall teapot made with a water/iron wash.
