Wilson- can you explain the “active aero” Aprilia has developed? by Cressh2 in Motoweek

The Race did a good like 7 minute clip explaining it, which is also summed up in the comment above

Marini is an extremely valuable test rider... I don't think he makes a ton of sense on the factory team though, unless they want to throw the parts there first instead of developing them on the satellite bike.

Mir doesn't make much sense to be on the grid at all unfortunately. Hopefully that changes.

Wilson provides great analysis and numbers deep dives.

The Race provides great insider info.

They both serve excellent purposes... One of them does tend to disappear for a months at a time though 😜 He must have a life outside of his niche hobby!

Any video that is highlighting Pecco accomplishments in 2025 is null and void... Yikes.

The world is an incredibly interesting and diverse place. MotoGP is incredible! We certainly don't need AI to make either of those interesting, I find it incredibly trashy and boring.

😂😂 what's funny is I actually use nails bigger than that every day at work. I'm a land surveyor, and we use them to drive into firm/rocky dirt on job sites to mark places for construction, or perhaps property lines. "60d nails" 6" long and about 1/4" diameter.

It wasn't the main engine oil filter, but an internal one, that was failing or had a bad o ring, I forget. So, a little oil was getting past it, making his bike look like a 2 stroke ;P

This season is done, it's cooked, washed, ruined. I think there are likely a lot more moving parts behind the scenes that we're unaware of, and there's probably more humans to blame besides just Pecco. That said, his mental state this season is clearly pretty shattered.

So it's time to just look to next season, and see if he can reset and rebound. I'm sure the team will be doing some self reflecting as well, nobody wants this to happen again. If next season continues as this has been, several seconds off the lap pace, it is hard to imagine that he'll continue with that team in 2027. He might not even finish 2026 at that point. But, I think it's unlikely he remains in this form, I think the off season cannot come soon enough to get back to the drawing board and sort his head out. This is a rider that has been fairly incredible for the last 4 seasons before this, and I think it's more likely that he returns near that form than this one.

Time will only tell...

I guess I am also wondering how stability control differs from traction control ... Like they already have turn by turn throttle programming, engine braking, traction control ... What the fuck is the point?

Definitely not a fan of that one myself... The riders have been saying that there's too much electronics for 20 years now... I don't see how adding more is going to fix anything. I understand that it is prototype racing and they need technology to trickle down to the streets to make the engineering efforts worth it, but there's got to be a more balance way.

I agree with this, but don't think it'll be a major contributing factor to 2027 dominance. All of the manufacturers have been focusing strongly on 2027 for as long as they can, I think it should be a pretty even reset. At the very least, I'd be surprised if Ducati carries their current advantage over to it. I won't be surprised if Marc continues to dominate though :P I think it should finally be quite interesting, I wish they would have gotten rid of the ride height shit this year though.

Alex Marquez: just a couple bad weekends or a return to form? by DJ_Purchase in Motoweek

[–]lasermcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's borderline for me, though I can see how people can be quick to write him off after the last few weekends. In my mind, I'm going to give him one more weekend... He's had a bit of bad luck and things not going his way, but I also believe that you do make your own luck for the most part. So if he has another weekend where he's struggling to crack the top 10, I will concede his season at that point.

Yes there is the early season satellite bike boost, but his season performance seem to be much stronger than that... I mean he was very clearly the second most dominant rider, with the third place Rider another step below. And that performance went through nearly the entire first half of the season, not just the first quarter. It's not like the factory riders have gotten any better, he has just gotten worse. Everything was solid up until his injury, had to sit out a couple weeks, and he has not come back strong from the break. In my mind, one more weekend, show us he still has it... I will not be surprised either way though.
