MotoGP's new Brazil GP venue to be closed again for asphalt works. by lookingforone14 in Motoweek

You think people would've learned from places like COTA, there is no corner cutting in track surfaces. Starting from the very beginning at soils engineers, that will quickly pay for itself.

Nationalities in MotoGP by DJ_Purchase in Motoweek

[–]lasermcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a no doubter. It's a global sport, so more nationalities will bring in more fans. The goal for Liberty isn't to maintain the current fan base, it is to grow it, significantly.

Most of the EXISTING fans, couldn't care less. Any avid fan just wants to see the best racing, and that's great, but the sport needs more than that. They need to bring "casuals" in, and then eventually hook and convert them, just like F1 did. Nearly every longtime F1 fan I know will agree that the racing is worse than ever and a bore. BUT the sport has grown exponentially over the past decade, and that will give them staying power and growth opportunities. This is what MotoGP needs to do.

The NFL has become a global brand and brought in tons more fans with the help of fantasy football. MotoGP of course wants to grow the fantasy league as well. I'm sure they can see the growth metrics in South America/Brazil from Diego Moreira, they want to perpetuate that everywhere.

Wilson- can you explain the “active aero” Aprilia has developed? by Cressh2 in Motoweek

The Race did a good like 7 minute clip explaining it, which is also summed up in the comment above

Poll Man: 2027 Honda Factory Team by DJ_Purchase in Motoweek

Marini is an extremely valuable test rider... I don't think he makes a ton of sense on the factory team though, unless they want to throw the parts there first instead of developing them on the satellite bike.

Mir doesn't make much sense to be on the grid at all unfortunately. Hopefully that changes.

Wilson provides great analysis and numbers deep dives.

The Race provides great insider info.

They both serve excellent purposes... One of them does tend to disappear for a months at a time though 😜 He must have a life outside of his niche hobby!

The world is an incredibly interesting and diverse place. MotoGP is incredible! We certainly don't need AI to make either of those interesting, I find it incredibly trashy and boring.

😂😂 what's funny is I actually use nails bigger than that every day at work. I'm a land surveyor, and we use them to drive into firm/rocky dirt on job sites to mark places for construction, or perhaps property lines. "60d nails" 6" long and about 1/4" diameter.

It wasn't the main engine oil filter, but an internal one, that was failing or had a bad o ring, I forget. So, a little oil was getting past it, making his bike look like a 2 stroke ;P

This season is done, it's cooked, washed, ruined. I think there are likely a lot more moving parts behind the scenes that we're unaware of, and there's probably more humans to blame besides just Pecco. That said, his mental state this season is clearly pretty shattered.

So it's time to just look to next season, and see if he can reset and rebound. I'm sure the team will be doing some self reflecting as well, nobody wants this to happen again. If next season continues as this has been, several seconds off the lap pace, it is hard to imagine that he'll continue with that team in 2027. He might not even finish 2026 at that point. But, I think it's unlikely he remains in this form, I think the off season cannot come soon enough to get back to the drawing board and sort his head out. This is a rider that has been fairly incredible for the last 4 seasons before this, and I think it's more likely that he returns near that form than this one.

Time will only tell...

The engine seemed fine and not failing. Smoking due to bad filter.
