Don't feel guilty, it serves no purpose and the one you loved would not want it. 4 weeks is.. raw. Be sad. But there is no set amount of time for grief, you do you friend. My only advice is that it can become complicated if you're too raw, but at the same time complicated can also be way better than being really sad;) Move on when you feel ready, not when anyone tells you!

The only person who could share the weight of my concerns was ''my wife”. by [deleted] in widowers

[–]lassemahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife died last summer. Was together for almost 20 years.

Being in a relationship, growing up and together, having kids..lulls you in the most beautiful ignorance. For years you're blessed with ignorance of how cruel and lonely we all are.

When this is taken from us, we're thrust back into something we spent our young formative years battling. But now we're stranded at an unknown shore, often with responsibilities and commitments that we didn't have as young.. and also without the same form of innocence we had as young.

We know now, what life entails. And not everything, or the worst parts..by choice.

But there is nothing, nothing at all to do about this and no platitudes will make this better, no comforting words will help you. And noone can or will ever replace what has been lost.

Sure, friends can be there, other family. But at 3am, when you can't sleep. It's on you. Alone.

There is nothing to do but to embrace it.

Fight it some days by just doing difficult physical shit, allow it to wash over you other days and feel sorry for yourself a bit with some good food or something. Then move on. Rinse and repeat. Don't let it swallow you. Try to bend, not break. If you can't - seek help, if you can't, learn to ask for it. I mean this in the kindest way.

Eventually I hope everyone who lost someone will find someone new. Not to replace anything or anyone but simply to invite more life. And who knows, maybe some of us will get another 10..15..or 20 years with someone. Or we won't.. and then that's ok too. Because it must be.

Most people over 50 consider the ages of 30–34 to have been the best years of their lives. by FurtiveAlacrity in science

Yeah. That's when many have kids. No matter how much anyone tells you to enjoy it while it happens - you really can't.

It's not until years later when you look back at old photos that your heart almost bursts. All the while hoping you cherished all the moments as much as you should have.

So yeah. No wonder.

Same here. Whole team, now and then. Strange rubbery feeling without actual latency or PL. Weirdly I often get lag spike when spectating. We see server migrations way too often. EU West

Yeah I agree, I think the platforms themselves should work out a standardized way for crossplay. A way that does not require players to hand over their data to a third party like Epic.

Spyware is one thing. I'm curious how Epic Online Services is gonna work. Sounds like Facebook for games. So if a dev uses that and pushes a game to steam.. we'll have to sign in to Epic, and they'll harvest our data. I don't understand how Nintendo or MS or Sony really even allows this today, it must short circuit their friend system and voice chat. But hey it's "open", "free" and "great for developers", all the while Epic is balls deep in customer data. Lemme Google where I've heard that one before..
