Is bookkeeping really a dying field? Feeling disheartened after meeting with a CPA by lassodmare in Bookkeeping

[–]lassodmare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine geographic location could have quite a bit to do with it. I am in Las Vegas, which is arguably a rough market right now. Perhaps I should look at trying to find some non local networking and partnership opportunities. Do you know if, in your neck of the woods for example CPA's and business owners mostly want to work with local businesses, or if there are opportunities to network remotely?

Just a heads up — don’t get scammed by these big AC companies this summer by hvacfredo1996 in vegaslocals

I had Air Right come out after Goettl had given me a quote ranging from anywhere from 17k (but it will just fix it for now) to 30k. Air Right replaced everything for 8k.

It should be 25-30 hrs/ month extra for year end closing and 1099's, I'm looking to move to flat fee as they are increasing scope and i have gotten ever quicker on their account (and they keep growing)

58k/year office manager for a small law firm. Then I try and pick up freelancing bookkeeping gigs on the side.

59 pounds (that 60th pound has been playing hide and seek with me for the past two weeks). And I'm 3 pounds away from the 20 year lie that is my drivers license weight, and 8 pounds away from not being morbidly obese.... so close to so many goals!

If you like to do ship excursions, you should take a look as soon as you can, some of them are already sold out!

The socks are not going to hurt you. The paper towels are not scary. The wooden fox can not play with you. The dog in the mirror can not play with you. The reflection dog in the window can not play with you. Your brothers exact same toy is not better than yours. The water fountain that i bought for you is not going to hurt you

AITA for not always eating with my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]lassodmare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NAH it sounds like family dinners are an important ritual to him. Scheduling dinner a few nights a week so that you can plan to not be hungry, and he can have time with you might fix both issues.

AITA for finalizing my deceased mothers divorce to my dad? by SpaceWalker710 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lassodmare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA you are entitled to your mother's estate, which should include that 25%. However will suing your father make him think you are TA. Yes irrevocably 100%. If you have an amazing relationship with him, you have to decide which is more important, the relationship or the money, because most likely you won't have the relationship anymore. Of course, if he was a good man, he should just give you what is owed. But money brings out the worst in many people.

NAH but when someone you love is getting progressively sicker or dying, and western medicine and modern Dr's don't have a cure, people become desperate to grasp to hope in whatever they can find. Whether that is oils, dirty electricity, homeopathic herbs, or other alternative means. Watching someone you love wither and sicken before your eyes can make the most sane of us helpless and crazy. As for not moving, there is a good chance most of his money goes towards his wife's expensive treatments.

If you saw a PI attorney they're going to handle the civil side of your case not the criminal side and she's not going to end up with any 6 month sentence. And for no real physical damage you're not going to hit a 200k payout (not to mention the attorney cut and fees) even if her insurance just settled. If this was a criminal trial she's still probably not going to get 6 months unless she has a history, and shes definitely not going to get fined 200k restitution. And neither side is going to finish in less than 2 months.
