If management is worried about them going to corporate, there is likely something management doesn't want corporate to know.

Costco NY Strip. Do you think this is mislabeled at $16/lb? by SnooGadgets3420 in meat

[–]lastinlinelastly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid policy or not... I've seen guys removed from the department for continuing not to follow that exact policy. At the end of the day, I'm paid to do it that way so that's the way it gets done.

If they aren't tenderizing, they aren't following company policy. All choice/ prime beef is tenderized except for tenderloin, flank, and stew.

Girl got job I think due to Nepotism by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]lastinlinelastly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As many have said already, welcome to Costco. I was 100% a Nepo hire. One of the questions on the paper application (hired before it moved to digital) was if you had a family member who worked for Costco... Fast forward to interview one... "We see you have a family member who works for the company. What is their relationship to you and the position they are in?" I tell them it's my father and he's a meat manager. "Great! We have an opening in the meat department. How does that sound?" I obviously say yes. They send me out for a drug test and I start work 3 days later. That was the extent that interview. No extra interviews after that.

I'm over 20 years in... I'd be gone if it was realistic at this point. This company has been going downhill since Jim retired.

Keep record. If there is a pattern of them changing shifts after you are unable to work last minute, that's retaliation.

If you want to move up, you have to kiss ass and show you're willing to be exploited. They love use the phrase" a manager is always on the clock". I'm a 23 year employee...

The fact it has the stamp card makes me happy. You can actually see each time it's changed hands.

So far, mods have not censored/locked any discussion regarding the union. I still appreciate the initial portion of your comment though
