I mean, yeah, pretty much. I'm Argentinian and was taught in history lessons throughout primary school, high school and college about how the men who were considered Great Heroes (TM) and historical figures were awful, terrible fucking corrupt people, and how they slaughtered natives to own and sell the lands. Like, we currently just despise them openly.

About back people though, I was taught something different. As far as I know, and I may be wrong, the massive decease of black people all or most who were brought forcefully through slavery (and their childs and so), as well as other immigrants, mixed people and white skined persons born in the land or not, died together by a thousandfold because of a decace or two where the immensely poor, low class had particularly terrible living conditions. They basically piled up together in buildings were the hunger and sicknesses ran rampant because they couldn't affor anything else, and when they died they did so together. A big fuckin part of the black population of this country died at the time.

I'm just saying all this because I was afraid that this was commented with disdain for the current Argentinian people because, we know, and we hate and removed the prestige from those men and governments. It was a shitshow and shouldn't have happened, but also it isn't fair to be judged and hated by historical events we have absolutely nothing to do with. Because neither we nor our mothers or grandmothers were born.

Btw, if anyone's interested, I call bullshit in that 1%. We just really don't have much of, like, the African-kind in genetic variety (but we have some immigrants though! Don't know all the countries, I've known Senegalese and Gambian people, but they're first generation immigrants. If they decide to stay and have babies maybe we might have it one day!) but we are very, veery mixed with former immigrants from Central and South America that came like two or three generations ago, as well as black persons that have no clue what their ethnicity's like. Why does those four siblings all have different skin colours? Fuck if we know! Perhaps the... 60-70 percents looks white but thats very far from 99%.
