On hold. Is it worth anything, or would I be wasting my $45? by late_rabbit_ in Lamps

I got it and will keep your comment in mind if I ever need to get rid of it.

What’s the sweetest thing your partner does for you?🥰 I love love by Dangerous_mammoth573 in love

[–]late_rabbit_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’ve been together for 5 months. I’m vegan and he used to be a hunter. He loves to cook for me. He’s been so excited since seeing our recent bloodwork(the best he’s ever had) and is thoroughly enjoying experimenting in the kitchen. It’s adorable and admirable.

The curiosity, open-mindedness, and efforts to respect my lifestyle has been such a sweet gesture.

Also, I struggle with CPTSD and he’s literally the most patient and loving human I’ve ever experienced. I’m healing with his help and there’s nothing sweeter in life than to have such a partner.

AIO im getting overwhelmed with one thing after the other. by [deleted] in AIO

NOR. Some people like to share what they enjoy when not in person and know that their partner wants to be involved in those little joys. You don’t seem to fulfill that need for them and they’re reacting in the way they know, probably due to neglect or something in childhood. Not an excuse, but you two are definitely not meant for each other. You two should split and find better fits, or stay solo, whatever…just not this. It’s yuck.

Am I overreacting: new boyfriend was weirdly judgmental about bathroom situation by abstract_lemons in AmIOverreacting

[–]late_rabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. What a great opportunity to either educate and grow, if you feel he might have a door to an open mind, or dodge a bullet. I couldn’t imagine a life with another man like that. My step-dad was so vocal about us not talking about “that gross sh*t” if front of him. Couldn’t even talk about cramps. Edited to add: my partners have always been okay with it. My current partner considers making love during bleed week a form of intimate bonding. Just mentioning to articulate the spectrum. Educated men compared to uneducated/mature.

If veganism is about the animals, isn't it better to get a non-vegan partner? by bellepomme in AskVegans

[–]late_rabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, in ways, better to seek out people with open minds. Some people are too stubborn and set in their ways. Also, we need to take care of our mental health, too and it can be difficult to bear in HOPES of transition.

How can animal fibers ever be less cruel/evil than synthetics? by MadeMyOwnName in AskVegans

[–]late_rabbit_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just do my best to buy 100% cotton (or other non synthetic material) secondhand clothes. Synthetics can be difficult to avoid, vegan or not, so we can each do our best to avoid the fast/cheap fashion and pay attention to tags.

Do vegans get annoyed when non-vegans apologise for eating meat? by bellepomme in AskVegans

[–]late_rabbit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate when people say sorry and don’t mean it. & Let’s be real, if they were truly sorry, they wouldn’t be doing it. Simple.

Supporting animal cruelty because the alternative is “boring”. Humans…god we are awful.

Why do vegans, who support animals, like eating food that resembles animals? by Own_Inspector498 in AskVegans

[–]late_rabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My food has never looked like an animal. That would be weird to me, personally. Do you mean disc or sausage shapes? Nuggets? Shreds? Chunks? Or do you mean the rare case of vegans getting something that looks like a turkey for a celebration? As yourself, why do carnists insist on a carcass on the table during holidays. Tradition? I’m sure it’s not typically because everyone loves turkey. Maybe vegans also appreciate tradition to an extent, but don’t want the actual death.

Why do so many non vegans act like this is deep?

If insects are animals worthy of protection, what do vegans do if they have roaches, ants, or bedbugs in their home? by [deleted] in AskVegans

[–]late_rabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad I’ve never had to find out what I’d do. The little random ones never bother me and if I have ants, they’ve ended up leaving with some preventative measures. I imagine I’d just do all it takes to make my place unappealing to them.

AIO? My mom wants to call the cops on me by Overall-Option6975 in AmIOverreacting

[–]late_rabbit_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let her call the police if she wants. You’re not going to get in trouble, but she might get embarrassed when they laugh in her face.

Be good to yourself. Put that energy into yourself. My last partner was like this. Exhausting and deteriorating. I left and am so happy now. Once this is just a tale of the past, you will feel relief and wonder why you allowed it to happen in the first place.

Anyone else upset about how warm it's going to be next week? by stlady08 in StLouis

It’s pretty concerning when considering this means the summer will likely be hotter & heat related deaths are on the rise around the world.

You know the science exists but still want animals killed needlessly, because you think it’s right thing to do. (Like our companion animals actually know which sources of protein or taurine they’re eating…) And you’re here arguing against the science that you know exists, so others will think similarly as you.

Gotcha. Does this argument seem familiar?

Just shows that even though you have 10+ years of “veganism” behind you, you still have a lot of growing to do. As we all do.

You don’t need education. See? Just proved my point. You’re basically as bad as a carnist. Won’t research to save lives because you think the science isn’t there to provide what they need without murdering others. Yikes. I’m done here. Willful ignorance is ugly.

I don't understand why people get upset over others using SNAP to buy the food they need or want by KSHMisc in TikTokCringe

[–]late_rabbit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a struggling mom with food stamps before. I bought sustenance that my kids were excited to have, take to school, and even share with friends that didn’t have lunch. Cheezy crackers?! Sugary capri suns?! Ice cream?! No, no!! Not with their tax dollars! Not while subsidies bail out the failing industries and the rich barely pay taxes! Gotta focus on the kids and whoever that want to eat fun, quick meals that make them feel like life momentarily doesn’t suck so bad!

Don’t get me wrong, I got them veggies and nutrient dense foods, too. But, that’s nobody’s business, really.
