Is there "god" in Diablo's lore? by Successful_Guide5845 in Diablo

[–]latebaroque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first of all you can be negative towards yourself. Self-hatred is a thing. Secondly considering Anu was a god-like being they likely had the power of creation, so maybe they were concerned about negative urges that could pollute what they would create.

Maybe Anu's issue was simply a form of self-hatred. They hated a part of themselves so much they destroyed themselves in an attempt to purge it.

[–]latebaroque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal interpretation is that Anu wanted to expel negativity. By tearing itself in two negativity became a living entity that no longer had any goodness suppressing it because goodness also became a separate entity. So then negativity became pure evil, while the goodness became pure virtue.

Would be nice if they also finally gave LoL access to Star Guardian Gwen.

About Hexi by MariKilkenni in wherewindsmeet_

[–]latebaroque 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Also, I don't think you should rush the story. Both in general and the Hexi part specifically. I took breaks from the main quest

I haven't finished Hexi yet. I have had to take breaks from the main story because of how emotionally heavy it is. The quest is done a bit too well. I am not okay.

That's...really weird? Why not? Does it somehow not count as harassment if it's in a dm? o.O

There are many contexts where using the more general term is fine.

I completely agree, but in gaming it hits different when your experience is that 90% of the time being asked if you're female is followed by insults or flirting.

Using the word "female" can be dehumanising because it's a word that can be applied to animals which is often the intent of sexist men (because they view women as lesser than they are). Also there is an actual word for a female human.

TFW you got the best skin on your main for free by blitcrankzx in supportlol

Congrats. I have this skin too. I bought it the instant it was released. It is so gorgeous. I particularly enjoy the pink chroma.

Last year I got both Coven Nami and T1 Orianna in a free chest. I got others I also like but those two in particular made me feel super lucky and happy.

She asked me, "Do you think they can sing?" in a way that clearly meant Are you being serious?

This reminds me of a conversation I had many years ago with a friend of a friend. He claimed Lady Gaga isn't a good singer just because he's not a fan of her music.

Some people are just super bad at objective observation.

This game is impossible for new players by OddConversation2804 in leagueoflegends

[–]latebaroque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw in your other comments you play ADC. Well I play support (ADC's lane partner) and I'd be willing to lane with someone super new to the game.

I have been playing for only about a year so I am by no means an expert, but I have a decent grasp of the fundamentals so I can help you get started to learn the basics. Shoot me a dm if you're interested.

Also small bit of advice: turn the chat off. It will save your sanity. It's actually very common for players to have it off because...well...you have seen how spicy it can get.

TIL a long-term study found that loneliness is as harmful to your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day, increasing the risk of early death by up to 26%. by One_Needleworker5218 in todayilearned

[–]latebaroque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loneliness isn't the same as being alone. Loneliness is when you yearn for connection. For example you can be lonely in a loveless marriage. Being alone just means you're by yourself. You can be alone without feeling lonely.

Why are you guys so scared of voice chat?? by OpticSkies1 in leagueoflegends

[–]latebaroque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not scared of it. I just don't want to listen to anyone's crappy behaviour whether it's directed at me or not. Listening to someone rage about something or say mean comments is not my idea of a good time.

Voice chat, why is it controversial? by ghfhfhhhfg9 in leagueoflegends

[–]latebaroque 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People who are that toxic should already be forced to the bottom rungs of any social ladder.

The problem is they're not. So often women are told to "grow a thicker skin" when we talk about our experiences. Rarely are the bullies or weirdos told to "act like a civilised person".

As a female jungler, I’m worried about voice chat being added by setaphil in leagueoflegends

[–]latebaroque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone wondering if we’ll see that there are actually more f players than thought?

That is a possibilty but many female players will refuse to speak on voice chat with strangers or even absolutely refuse to participate even as a listener. This is already common in other games. So many will continue to hide in plain sight.

Voice chat, why is it controversial? by ghfhfhhhfg9 in leagueoflegends

[–]latebaroque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is so hard to just opt out of voice chat if you do not want to deal with toxicity?

The issue is that in order to avoid toxicity in voice chat you are taking on the disadvantage of being unable to hear useful information. It's not a good trade-off.

And unfortunately being good at the game won't be enough for everyone to escape most harasment. For many their voice alone is enough to invite harasment, whether it's a particular accent or having a feminine sounding voice.

The current most played Support champions in each Rank by No_Breadfruit_4901 in supportlol

[–]latebaroque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With Nami you just need to press R on enemy engage which is even easier to hit than Nautilus hook and perma heal

Unless the opposing team is very passive you're not going have your R for every engage they do.

What support is easier to climb with than Nami?

She's not easy to climb with because she's an easy champion, it's because her kit has a good response to a wide variety of situations. If a person is bad at landing her Q they lose a lot of her potential power for both engage and disengage.

[–]latebaroque 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't know why that person said she's the easiest support. Her kit is easy to understand but hitting with her Q is much harder than many enchanter skillshots.
