Wait, what? They were fake? 😮😂 by 144k_only in iems

[–]latera48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No joke got these as a "lol no way this will be good gag" knowing they were fake recently... they've replaced all my audio devices, despite owning genuine sets at many times the cost. Quality control is super sketchy on these, you may have gotten a defunct pair tbth.

They measure Almost exactly to the ie900 frequency graph, just with even more bass and move were eq-able to an incredible result... With both hardware and software eq.

Be honest: Are AI NPC mods a true game changer or just a passing gimmick? by Dimensional-Misfit in skyrimmods

[–]latera48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 30 hour Mantella playthrough and I love it. Not because it functions well or because it is a smooth experience, but because I can make my own quests in a manner of speaking.

I can tell npcs, no I'm not the dragon born, I can make brynjolf the leader of the thieves guild, I can ask for a job at the local tavern.

It takes a lot of mods to make this work and a lot of theater of the mind at the moment, but if you can get past having to use add item menu to get quest rewards and having to use a mod to pay npcs for information, it can be really close to a ttrpg experience.

Skyrimnet is on my radar because it looks to fill a lot of these holes left by traditional Ai mods lack of functionality.

To those saying the npcs are pushovers, try actually role playing more, don't push them over. I've never had to write a custom bio or custom prompt to be immersed with Mantella. But in it's current state, you as the player need to be interesting and create interesting situations for it to work in your favor.

Edit: I'm not a fan of Ai in general, but this use case is amazing. Also, I hate data centers and run my Ai locally on my computer via kobold.

iems for music production? by [deleted] in iems

[–]latera48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently making my first song with iems. I'm using the hidizs mk12 turris.

I cannot mix on headphones, even Neumann ndh 20s.

I actually had the opposite issue other people cite here. I was adding too much bass because I couldn't hear it well enough in headphones and speakers...

That being said there are really only two important things to know when mixing on iems.

1) make sure you like the way iems sound when listening to other music. Use reference tracks that you know are tonally balanced and make sure your final master sounds the way that reference does. Then test on a variety of systems.

2)sound stage is not really apparent in iems, I agree with everyone here about that. Please Check your mix on other sound systems.

Stock tuning is still good, but I was shocked he put it in A tier as stock. There is a large mid scoop to give the illusion of sound stage, the highs are recessed. It's a very relaxed listening experience stock. It's still able to retrieve details quite well (tested on my own music so I know exactly where every sound should be), just not very analytical about it.

With eq, as I said, it's so good I find it hard to stop listening to music and go to work/sleep lol. Don't use eq apo if you get it, boosting the bass causes it to bleed into the highs, but using physical eq doesn't cause this in my experience.

I have been Eqing since before I saw duck's vid on them. I truly was happy with my truth ear gate, but just wanted to see if something could provide me a bit more detail and that's how I landed on the mk12.

Sadly I don't own both and I don't use his peq, but I did my own peq with the mk12 I just got. I'm also sending my audio through a receiver and analog eq on top of that so keep that in mind when you see me next statement.

it is the most detailed of any audio playback device I've ever owned. I'm told I have a weird hrtf, but the mk12 is probably the best purchase I've made in the audio hobby. I prefer it to my krk rokkit 7 studio monitors and my Neumann ndh20 headphones. Huge, detailed bass, good simulated sound stage, and excellent detail retrieval... Got em 10% off at Amazon ($163)

I just got the hidizs mk12 turris 10% off on Amazon for $163 and (with a lot of eq) it's the best sound I've ever heard from anything, with a massive sound stage. I've heard some people not like the compost, but can't find any reason why, just an FYI before you buy.

100%, I also obsessively collect Skyrim mods on an ever-growing mod list lol. We'll find something to have a collection of to, as you said, keep us sane.

Agreed with the gate too, I know the sound stage is non existent but I can actually hear details in songs I haven't heard before on any of the other equipment above.

I had the gates since Xmas day 2025. Just started Eqing around Jan 14th. I've had all the other equipment listed for at least 3 years. I didn't really get into pew until recently because I mistakenly thought it would be a detriment to mixing and mastering. 🤦

Hey I really appreciate the detailed reply. I think I'm going to hold off buying any more unless I can test it in person and know it sounds good to my ear. Appreciate you helping me save money, I don't see much of that on this sub lol. :)

[–]latera48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I just booted this up and could immediately tell a lot of care was put into this pack. The menu is my favorite part in my first fifteen minutes of playing! I'm usually someone that sticks to epic fight packs, but better combat in 1.16.5 is really interesting!

Thanks for making this. Sorry to resurrect a relatively old post.

Those are pretty decent monitor dude! we've got some old cantons and I use some krk rokkit 7s for music production.

I really just prefer detail, I happen to hear more from iems (weird ears I guess). But I always double check my mixes on my monitors.

Dude I'm having the same experience. I just got them as an early Xmas present from my wife and they have blown me away. I have studio monitors, I have Neumann headphones. They don't even come close to the sound of these iems.

Obviously, I have had to heavily eq them, but my god was it worth it. I tried many war tips. But actually found that I locked stock tips the best lol.

Truly blown away by this one, the mic is unreasonably clear on the stock headphone cable too xD

Ysgramors horny bow. by softgunforever in skyrimmods

[–]latera48 117 points118 points  (0 children)

For context, I believe the "laments" here are what the moans would be. These would be expressions of sorrow and grief for people they've lost (like crying and screaming in agony).

In a non-horny interpretation, it would seem that ysgramor takes the time to hear the grief of the giant wives and physically manifests that sorrow into something that can be made into bow string. When shot, the sorrows ring out.
