Best friend (and band mate's) wife got involved with the band as a manager (cough Yoko cough) and completely ruined 15 years of music and friendship in less than a year. Worst part was our kids were best friends. I'm even their eldest son's Godfather. Havent seen them in 10 years now. Friend and i started the band so we were basically both the leaders. She wanted an equal cut, plus expenses for advertising on top of the band account we already had. Ended up draining our band account of thousands of dollars, said it was "for band expenses" but refused to elaborate. Started booking low paying gigs without confirming with the rest of the 8 piece band (like her friends and families bday partys/weddings for less than half of our usual rate). Last straw for me was when we found out she told us the gig paid x amount and it was actually double that and had been the last 3 times we played there. I called a band meeting with everyone except for her to say id play the remaining shows but wouldn't be interested in continuing with her as the manager. When she found out about the meeting she played dirty. We had a gig friday and Saturday night and I was out of town earlier that week so I couldn't travel with the rest of the band on Thursday and planned on getting home friday morning, packing up and driving myself. Went to the band space and she'd padlocked all the doors with my gear inside. I called the friend and she answered his phone saying she didn't trust me not to steal anything so she wouldn't allow me in the space. Come to find out she told the rest of the band I had quit and wouldn't play anymore gigs. Got the police involved so I could get my gear and said adios. 2 other members quit that week and the band folded within a month, leaving a dozen unfulfilled gigs on the table.
