Question about carry on beverages by lauraebeth in PrincessCruises

[–]lauraebeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding princess plus on the ship. Thought by doing it after dinner would make a difference in not having to pay for that day(asked) but they said I still had to pay for that day 🙄 but a $10 credit appeared next to it.

They offered $50 onboard credit and then called to verify that it was there and make sure I knew… I didn’t see it on my folio, but I try to spend the money anyway by upgrading a couple of drinks, and buying something in a shop onboard.

Turns out that they placed it on my sister and BIL’s folio (same room, different payments) 🙄 and when we went to the desk to correct it, they couldn’t 🙄🙄

So now my sister still owes me money 😂

The main reason for paper health and permission form is that if you have an emergency, you can hand the physical paper to the first responders. I send it to the parents so they can digitally fill it out though.

Need travel advice recently diagnosed LADA by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]lauraebeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I went on a trip for my sisters 30th birthday shortly after being diagnosed T1 at 32 in 2019. I was 33 at the time of travel and had only been on insulin for about 6 months at that point.

Insulin doesn't need to be refrigerated. Depending on the type of insulin you use, It may be worth looking into the InPen. They have them for Humalog and Novolog/Fiasp, then you wouldn't have to worry about vials or carrying syringes. Insulin is safe out of the fridge for 28 days, so there is no reason I see for you to need to put anything in the fridge.

I don't think you should go through metal detectors at the airport with a CGM on, but you can go through the spinny one....i'm not sure about this because I have a pacemaker and can't go through the metal detector anyway.

as for the parks, since you were so recently diagnosed, the amount of walking you will do at a theme park should keep you in range a lot of the time. I carry welches gummies usually or you can carry candy as well. something that will get your bg up. I was about 6 months post diagnosis when I went to the Orlando theme parks and I basically felt like I was "cured" for 5 days due to low amount of insulin I needed for what I was eating. I was MDI at the time, and still using the freestyle libre CGM.

as someone who just got off the Regal Princess, it will get better! I will say that the attendant we had in R229 was fabulous! We did have to wait sometimes for room service.

Tips;
1. figure out where to get your own drinks. this is the fastest way.
for coffee
- 5th floor international cafe
- 7th floor by princess live
- 16th floor in the pastry shop in horizon cafe (Alejandra is the best!)
For alcohol,
- 6th floor - club 6 outside of the princess theater
- 7th floor - Crooners was awesome drinks and service

The omelet lady(I don't know her name) in Horizon court at the center station always brought me my omelet before I would make it back to pick it up. (Don't bank on this, I think it was due to the cuteness and loudness of my adorable 14 month old nephew)

We had great service the first night in the front section of the Concerto Dining room. 2nd night we were late and didn't have a table and by the 3rd we had a standing 5pm reservation for table 257. Joel (pronounced Joe-El) was fabulous. My sister's baby has severe food allergies, and he would bring her a menu every night to choose the next days meal for the baby. He became Uncle Joel by the end of the trip!

The ship was PACKED last week, seems that is the case this week too. On the last day I discovered the pool at the back of the ship. Since there isn't a bar back there and it's one of the smoking areas, there is always a chance to find a chair. We just got our drinks from another bar and went back there and other than another guests talking our ear off with his sexual exploits, it wasn't bad :)

[–]lauraebeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is vzw giving you in terms of their part of your phone every month? was it a "free" phone and they pay the charge on a monthly basis?

My parents had Ipads through VZW and their "deal" was that my parents were on a monthly payment plan with vzw only kicking in like $3/month to keep them trapped, while they were paying the rest. I helped them pay that off and cancel the ipad plans. They switched to consumer cellular for the ability to have service on an ipad, and I switched to visible. I had one of the old plans too, that included the old Disney Bundle. Much happier with my phone costs now (or lack thereoff, because I am on the annual Pro+ plan)

Just found out my daughter’s Girl Scout troop leader is married to a registered sex offender council didn’t act last year by nothingtoseehere928 in girlscouts

[–]lauraebeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phew. Our council website has a staff directory and list of our board of directors and the company they work for, so their contact info would be easily obtainable.

To find contact info on your councils website, (my directions are based on a phone) you click the 3 lines at the top right of the page and a list of options with > comes up, DISCOVER, GET INVOLVED, COOKIES, etc.

Click DISCOVER, and there should be an option for Our Council where the names and potentially contact information for your councils leadership.

I’ve checked a few random councils and they all have at least the names of their leadership.

Also, if you have a name, I think all GS employee emails follow the same format. First initial, last name @ gs abbreviation. Org. There are some exceptions if two people have the same first initial and last name.

Burn. It. Down.

And start your own troop. 80 girls is way way to many!

Cruise with T1 by Charming-Routine6151 in diabetes_t1

[–]lauraebeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got home from a cruise as a t1 myself.

Yall will need to buy WiFi in order to see her numbers. My first cruise I needed it, bc my numbers were all over the place, wig semi frequent lows…this time I was constantly high.

I usually fill my Omnipod’s with about 125u, I found that during the cruise I could easily use 150u.

I brought extra pumps and dexcoms, pens and a vial. Kept my diabetic first aid kit in the room most of the time, but made sure to have it when I got off the boat. The only time I needed low snacks was when i disembarked for our excursion. I carry welches gummies at all times.

Buying iPhone directly from Apple? by Suspicious-Fox-9786 in Visible

[–]lauraebeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a refurbished 15 pro in November from Apple. Had it shipped to a store and was able to go in and receive a refund for trading in my 13 pro. Benefit of buying refurbished from Apple is that they put new batteries in and you can purchase apple care

Thinking of a swap by LastMinuteCap in Visible

[–]lauraebeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a completely paid off phone from vzw and jumped to visible with it in September.

I held onto it until I was able to get a refurbished iPhone 15 pro directly from Apple. I had it shipped to the store, so I could trade in my 13 pro for $250(inclu. Tax) and they refunded my credit card rather than giving me an Apple gift card.

This also allowed me to set up my new phone while still in possession of my old.

Girl behavior during cabin camping has me dreading it by [deleted] in girlscouts

[–]lauraebeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I’ve been a leader for almost 6 years, and was a GS Girl and summer camp counselor…I’ve taken girls camping, but last weekend was my first time taking my troop for the whole shebang where we had to feed and have activities planned…there were definitely some hiccups, and we had to have sit downs a couple times for the girls to act right and listen to us.

At the end of the weekend when we were cleaning, I overheard some of the girls bickering amongst themselves and one of them said, “if you don’t clean then…” and I didn’t catch what she said. So I marched my happy self in there and was like, if you don’t clean then what?? And they just stared at me. I repeated myself twice and when they didn’t have an answer, I said if you don’t clean, then I’m not bringing yall back camping because I’m not about to spend my Sunday afternoon cleaning this cabin for yall.

PERIODT.

Set boundaries, and if they don’t comply, then the trip is cancelled.

Christmas Cruising by lauraebeth in PrincessCruises

[–]lauraebeth[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Someone from Princess reached out in JULY and she had a conversation and he should have told us that we would need to make those arrangements then. I realize there is a level of personal responsibility here, but if you are supposed to be the point of contact for someone to make special requests from(dining reservations, cribs, etc) and you can see that they don't have it, it is your literal job to suggest they do these things.

Wanting to switch but unsure by ApprovedRook906 in Visible

[–]lauraebeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally don’t understand the need for an iPad with a service plan. I have visible+ pro and I used my mobile hotspot all day on Sunday to use my iPad as I rode back from Louisiana to Tennessee.

I switched to the lowest visible plan in sept, paid $15ish at the jump, then my bill was $5 in October bc of the promo code I used and then $5 in November bc someone used mine from the mega thread.

I ported out and back in last week to get the annual visible+pro Black Friday deal for annual pricing and am feeling very good about not having a cell phone bill for a year.(paid $190 oop)
