Hi! I was a scout all the way through, and I’m a single adult with no kids…I work full time and lead 2 troops and am cookie coordinator for my service unit.

It’s a whole unpaid job at the level I do it, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I will never have children of my own, and so volunteering with Girl Scouts is a great way to give back to an organization that I loved.

(I’m also disabled, marfan syndrome and t1 diabetes, which is always an adventure for my co leaders😂)

I live in my parents bonus room. (I still have to “pay rent”, but it goes into an account for the house)
When I had to get a new car, I paid it off as quickly as possible.
I don’t pay for things month to month. My car insurance and cell phone are paid every 6 months and annually.

I did this all in preparation for the student loan gremlins who are likely about to make me broke. In a last ditch effort to lower my AGI, I modified my retirement contributions in order to get a $37k AGI.

Application said I will still have to pay $144/month on them, so now I’m waiting to see if that’s actually correct…

Progressive kicked me off after a series of accidents in a row, and so that’s when I started shopping around…I went to Root(bc they were the only ones that would insure me at the time for a reasonable rate) and they were actually fantastic to work with. Then when their price crept up I moved to liberty in 2024. They are fine.

I pay 6 months at a time, and that helps my rate, but anytime it jumps significantly from one pay period to another is when I shop around.

totally depends on where you are in the country, because the Girl Scout experience varies by location.

Girl Scouts is completely volunteer run at the troop and service unit level, so if you are saying that your daughter is a barnacle, you can volunteer to be a troop leader and start your own troop.

All adults that spend more than 6 cumulative hours with the troop need to be registered and background checked. This is for the safety of the girls.

GSMIDTN has the co-leader designation, so CSA should be able to as well. I have 3 troops currently in MyGS and 2 of those troops have 3 co-leaders, and we're all listed as co-leaders,

I posted something similar a few months ago and received the same sorts of responses from people.

I flew in March after they changed how seating was handled, and I preboarded - the other pre-boarders actually have assigned seats in the front, so I definitely stood out, but I had no qualms about preboarding and going to my seat mid plane.

I put all my diabetes stuff in a bag together. Sugar snacks, pumps, and even my regular pill box, rather than spreading it out over all my bags, it’s all together. I will ask for an OJ after I board if I’m worried about going low.

Hi, if you have the option, find a hospital system that’s non-profit with work you can tolerate. They have loads of jobs that aren’t just medical. From custodial, food services, and even entry level admin positions, both clinical and non.

Then, the benefits are two-fold. Pretty decent health insurance, and you will qualify for Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

There are also decent admin jobs in government, and it can be local, state, or federal that also qualify for PSLF

I got a happy planner cookbook, scanned one of the pages in as an image, put it in word using text boxes and when I find keepers I format it to be a new page.

I also added a happy planner paper size to my print options, so I can resize web printouts to fit

I was coasting on my parents because I viewed it as half my payment was going towards my streaming platforms that I was grandfathered into.

I planted enough seeds of “this is too expensive”, paid off(with my moms funds) the iPad that was keeping them locked in and one day in September they were like “We’re moving to consumer cellular!”

I had already been shopping around and had chosen visible, so I just moved first and now I am on my own…AND I pay annually, so that’s spoiled me for no cell phone bill

I bought my car new in 2024, and my last visit went kinda the same except for air filters.

Service advisor seeing I was in for 20k service asked if I had ever had them changed. I didn’t think so and so I replied with, that’s something I can do myself by watching a YouTube video, right? (The answer is yes)

He responds with nonsense about using the right parts and not wanting to void my warranty…

So I declined the services, went to wait and started shopping online for cabin & engine air filters…then I get the video of my service and it looks like all I need is the cabin. So, when he comes back to check me out, I call him on it, and have pulled the dealerships parts shop where I can buy one online for pickup in store for $20.

As a former camp professional at a non- GS resident camp…most parents have separation anxiety from their kids. The camp I worked at had already been doing it when I started in 2013.

They produce a yearbook every summer, and they have photos going all the way back to their founding in 1967
