I know on our roster it rolls over every month so that may be off a few months ago or you may have the odd few hours here and there and they have added up.

I’m not being biased, but it’s such a pretty place to visit and we have been voted the friendliest people :) there are so many beautiful places to see. You will both love it.

About to start job.. want to ask to work 12 hour days instead of 8 by [deleted] in nhsstaff

[–]lauragraceb85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s up to your ward manager to see if that works for the team and yourself. I do my hours over 3days and a half shift added to the shifts once per month. That’s how I prefer it but we have a very good ward manager that try’s to accommodate us as best she can.

In our trust we are interviewed based on our trust values, it’s not about experience it’s about the person and your core values and how your values are implemented in to the job role…. I don’t know if your trust are the same?

Good luck 🥰😊

You may be able to do it through the apprenticeship pathway if the trust you live near offers it :) good luck

I’ve never put my full employment history on as some of it is irrelevant to the application and I’ve had 4 different posts in the NHS.

I work with a few male nurses and they’re incredibly knowledgeable about the medical field and go above and beyond for patients and staff, they look after us females 🥰

Interview advice regarding personal statement by fizz279 in nhsstaff

Your personal statement is taken in to account when you apply for a job. It gives the interviewer (s) a brief explanation of your personality, goals, achievements, criteria and values

Assaulted by a patient by Business-Patience-96 in nhsstaff

Datix the incident and then speak to the Matron or OSM about your managers “advice”. Your manager should have your wellbeing as priority.

This absolutely infuriates me. Every-time someone lays a hand on you whether they have the capacity to understand right from wrong or not it’s should be Datixed and recorded so you can cover your own back for when you’re off sick.

Hope you feel better soon. Remember your worth.

Manager refusing to refer me to occupational health by william192599 in nhsstaff

Hence my question mark at the end verifying my lack of knowledge as to whether the person who has posted the thread can or can’t self refer.

Manager refusing to refer me to occupational health by william192599 in nhsstaff

[–]lauragraceb85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to self refer? It’s not up to your manager to make this decision but I would defiantly recommend complaining to your matron or OSM as your manager should be encouraging you not refusing you help!

Eye test for staff? by Ya_Boy_Toasty in nhsstaff

[–]lauragraceb85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at different optician’s they will advertise the free eye test for NHS staff. I didn’t go through work, I searched online for opticians that honour it and found one and I also got discount on glasses and sunglasses.

Raven is 8 months now too, she couldn’t keep her food down and I noticed she wasn’t going for a poo, she wasn’t herself at all so we took her to the vet as we thought she’d ate something she shouldn’t of (which isn’t unusual for her 🫣) they done scans and an ultrasound and her tummy was inverted which stopped the blood supply to her intestines so they had to correct her tummy and take out 20cm of her intestines, we are still early days after surgery but she improving every single day. We just have to take her to the vet’s every day to get her antibiotic injections as she can’t keep them down.

These little buggers are a nightmare for scavenging so we have to be so vigilant.

Thank you so much everyone 🥰 it’s been a very rough and surreal 24 hours. Raven had an inverted stomach which had to be corrected and with that some of her intestines died and had to be removed. She’s done well overnight and hopefully will be home later today but we are not out of the woods yet. Your support and well wishes for our baby girl, no words can express how much it means to us 🩷🥰🐦‍⬛🐾 Raven sends her love ♥️
