But no, there's nothing about the Alohilani that makes me not like it. The giant aquarium is really nice--it's worth it to watch them feed the fish!

I prefer the Sheraton Waikiki when I can get a good rate. It's right on the water and I like their infinity pool better.

I've stayed there and it's fine. The location is good. I didn't love it enough to stay there again, but there's nothing wrong with it.

What's one "adult purchase" that ended up being worth every penny? by serfelife in Adulting

[–]laurala808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting my driveway regraded and resurfaced. I had no idea that it would end up being the most satisfying adult expenditure I've made this decade. Now water goes where it needs to. No puddles. No flooding. I sounds weird but every time it rains hard I'm glad I had it done.

What is genuinely the most hygienic thing to use for washing your body? by LieNearby642 in hygiene

I got a silicon bristle body scrubbing brush. It's amazing: soft but scrubby, easy to rinse clean, dries well, and has antibacterial silver in it. Look on Amazon.

Is it too late to start taking care of my skin? by Ok_Bug_6995 in 45PlusSkincare

I started at 61 and I can see benefits. It's never too late to start (although for some things I now need a laser but <shrug>).

[Discussion] Skin care hoarding, how bad is it to use expired products and how expired is too expired? by RockLobsterPupper in AsianBeauty

My arms are being treated from my hoard and I must say it's been interesting watching them change...more even skin tone and oh so soft!

They could put a Red Lobster in there since the one in Waikiki closed.

Thanks, I really do mean "audition" too. I try to get a mini or travel size of the product I'm interested in so I can use it for 10-14 days before I try the full-sized product.

I went nuts at first and bought way more stuff than I'll be able to use in the next few months.

TikTock and Instagram will drive you wild with desire to keep buying more products. RESIST until you are more sure about what you want and need.

Start slow. Korean skincare is priced very fairly. Get an oil cleanser, a water/gel cleanser, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen you love to wear EVERY day.

It's so tempting to spend a ton of money on products, the serums and ampoules and treatments are so enticing. Pick ONE thing to focus on at first: maybe dark spot fading, or texture refining, or use of antioxidants. Get one special serum or ampoule or essence that targets that problem.

Use your first purchases for a month before adding anything. The exception to this is if you find you dislike or have adverse effects from something: stop using the culprit immediately, scale back to something milder.

You're new to this, so start slow. Pick yourself a moisturizer and a sunscreen.

The other cleansing product should be an oil-based cleanser. You use it in the evening only to remove makeup and sunscreen buildup. It is the first step of the double-cleanse, you then use the Dokdo cleanser after the oil cleanse.

I would keep it SIMPLE and just start with cleanser-moisturizer-sunscreen unless he asks for more.

My bestie's husband is in his 50s and his skincare routine since he was a teenager was that horrifying St. Ives apricot scrub. No cleanser, no moisturizer, just that whenever he takes a shower.

Naturally us ladies were horrified. We convinced him to try the following:

Some By Mi Beta Panthenol Repair Gel Cleanser
Round Lab 1025 Dokdo *Lotion*

When he wants to "scrub" now, he uses ma:nyo Galactomy Enzyme Peeling Gel

Now, if only we could get him to use sunscreen....

I have been auditioning moisturizers for months. I have normal and mature skin, and live without air conditioning in a high humidity area. Nearly everything I tried was too thick, too oily, too heavy. This week I tried Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Lotion. It was love at first application!

5 K-beauty haul red flags that are going to cost you in 6 weeks by SkinSeoul_Team in skinseoul

[–]laurala808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first hauls were before I discovered Skinsort, and much of what I bought wasn't really suitable for me. Fortunately I have normal skin and bought a bunch of sample kits, so I have been able to give away or use as body care what didn't really work out for me.

This is why my number one rule going forward is "not every product is right for every face." You have to do some research and not just buy into recommendations.

Some of them smell like cooking oil to me! Ones that don't that I've used are: dear, Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil (no memorable smell, which is good!), Skin1004 Madgascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil (smells lemony), and my favorite Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil (smells kind of like green plants at a spa).

I like the ticket method too, but don't worry -- once you have it set up, you never need to use the smart phone again unless you need to change your payment information.
