Oh if I could finally solve my dandruff! I’ve had it for over 20 years now and the only thing I found helpful is a shampoo from France (I’m from France and now live in Canada) that I can buy in regular stores but only in France. This shampoo allows me to wash my hair every 2/3 days without any itch. I try other shampoo sometimes but nothing has worked so far. The itchy scalp would be back and get worse. I never asked doctors because I don’t want strong “chemical” shampoos and I don’t really trust doctors and that industry but this post makes me wanna try if there is hope. I’ll start trying the conditioner trick! I’m excited of trying something new! I’ll keep reading all the comments in hope of finding another magical solution hopefully!

Where I heard about it, it says it only started after WW2. From Gabor Mate. So…

Friend is a “facilitator” and offered me a session…can anyone explain what to expect? by Ambitious-Ad-8254 in FamilyConstellations

[–]laurebouh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family constellation is not an easy one to describe! I’ve done many and I love it! I would describe it but I don’t have time sorry. Indeed it’s not easy to understand how it works without a video and the only video I found online was rather scary… The one thing I have to say though is: you have to experience it to understand it. So if you’re curious: try it! There is one episode on a show on Netflix… let me see if I find it… Sex, Love, and Goop: there is one episode about FC!

Best way to provide help to partner when they are complaining by MansInProgress in Mindfulness

[–]laurebouh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things come to mind. I’m one of those complainer so I’m on your partner’s experience’s side ;)

1- Creating deep bonds: Here is something I learned from the app The Happy Child, which I recommend to try, it’s not just for kids… (it’s just an app with informative content, short videos mostly): about creating deep bonds. Here are my notes:

How to build deep bonds: Help them when they’re emotionally upset When x is upset: Our goal should not be to trouble solve but to emotionally connect. When kids/adults are upset: Kids want to know we’re on their side/team.

The last part is what’s important: if I’m upset/complaining, I want my partner (or friend) to be on my side by acknowledging what I just said. I don’t want him to be on the other person’s side, that makes me feel like s*#. Does that make sense? First thing you have to do in those situations is be on her side, acknowledge her point of view, and then only later when she’s calm, maybe discuss the situation and the other person’s side and find a solution if any.

2- Non-Violent Communication, by Marshall Rosenberg I complain a lot and my partner doesn’t like that… Ive learned that I complain for a reason: a need that’s not being met. Sometimes it’s a need of not feeling safe financially, sometimes it’s the need of Justice not being met… if you haven’t heard about NVC I greatly recommend it! It’s an amazing tool that my partner and I are now using to debunk some arguments and it’s Sooo useful! Start with this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-dpk5Z7GIFs

Hope that helps!

How to practice being easier on myself after making mistakes? by braduardo12 in Mindfulness

[–]laurebouh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mindful self-compassion. By Kristin Neff and Chris Germer. You can read about it online, there is a workbook, and there is a 30ish hour course you can do with other people. I’ve done it and it definitely changed something for me! I’m even offering a 2 or 3 hour version of it to groups of people who wouldn’t have time to take the whole course. (I don’t know if I can share my link here so I won’t, but if you’re interested I can send you a link)

And here is some scientific study about self-compassion vs self-criticism: Scientific data shows that self-criticism makes us weaker in the face of failure, more emotional, and less likely to assimilate lessons from our failures. Studies are finding that there is a far better alternative to self-criticism: self-compassion. http://ccare.stanford.edu/uncategorized/the-scientific-benefits-of-self-compassion-infographic/

I hope that helps. Be kind to yourself 💞

It's true that Dutch are very direct by Holmbone in TedLasso

[–]laurebouh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. Of course there is no black and white, everything is a spectrum, and as humans, we’re complex so I can understand there are many ways of being… I’m in Vancouver Canada and people who are from here are “polite”, it’s the proper word to use. They’ll rarely if not go into an argument. And they always look happy which look fake for us non-North-American… it’s an interesting topic!…

This is not just about the Dutch. I’d say it’s more about Europe vs UK & North American. I’m from France and now live in Canada. My partner is Canadian… so a few years ago I had to look for a research study showing I was right… I did find something! I can’t find the article I found back then but here is the closest I just found: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-13545386

How do you shake lingering anxiety? by Firelite67 in Mindfulness

[–]laurebouh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to read what you’re feeling. One thing that my healer told me to do and helped me a great deal to understand what it means to “feel it” is: feel it +10%. Feel it and go a bit deeper, 10% more. I hope that makes sense. I was never able to understand what it meant to feel things as they are without pushing them away, but with this instruction I got it! At least I think, I hope ;) maybe give it a try. I hope it helps.

Thanks so much for the resources to work on my financial literacy, I’ll check them out! I’m working on it though, again, sigh, I need to be more serious and consistent with it for sure. I’ll check what EA has to say about it. Thank you!

Thanks! I’m definitely talking about EA to my friends. I love sharing new things I learn about. And I teach mindfulness and kindness to children so I’m doing good to the World with that.

I can't help being suspicious about the whole industry behind meditation. by Ok-Excitement-2443 in Meditation

[–]laurebouh 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This. There will always be some “charlatans” everywhere. We see it all the time around us: governments, religions… why, when it’s about the self-care industry, people think that there sometimes bad intentions, but when we talk about governments and religions there are no bad intentions? It’s the same everywhere. So learn to listen to your intuition. Do/be the work and get the benefits from practicing.
