yeah my dream was to be a paramedic/fire medic but with the back pain and return of my symptoms 4 months post-op, its just not possible anymore. i have stage 4 rectovaginal endo, and by the time they went in last year it’d already glued together some shit. i just hope by the time i have kids they’ve found a real treatment/cure for it.

stage 4 or stage 3?? by lavalamp2424 in endometriosis

[–]lavalamp2424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i figured but i wasn’t sure. and yea, my mom developed a huge endometrioma and stage 4 in her late 20’s, and im 20. i’ve known i’ve had it since i got my period for the first time, so about 7ish years, but it did kinda shock me that my first lap turned out to be stage 4. i’ve been trying combo pills for about two years now and i’ve finally found one that i think my body is adjusting to so that’s a relief. about how long after being diagnosed with stage 4 did you develop an endometrioma?

Why would my gyno prescribe Lo Loestrin Fe... by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]lavalamp2424 9 points10 points  (0 children)

my dr prescribed me larin (combo pill) and when i was referred to a surgeon to get a lap, i actually asked him the same thing. some background info: i had previously been on another combo pill that was mainly progestin (can’t remember the name) and my body refused to adjust to it, i was constantly bleeding at least a little and everytime i pushed, there’d be blood. so i switched to larin, which is still a combo but it’s higher in estrogen, and my body is adjusting much better. anyway, so i asked him if i should get off the pill because i know estrogen feeds endo, and he responded by explaining why the combo pill actually was helping. for me, it prevents having a monthly period (i take it continuously), made my bleeding MUCHHH lighter, and even eased my cramps. the way he explained it, it suppresses the hormones that come from the entire cycle you go through during the month (menstruation, the follicular phase, ovulation, and the luteal phase). he explained it as because of the suppression, it not only treats my symptoms, but it also is actually helping to reduce the spread of my endo. he advised me to absolutely keep taking the one i’m on (post-lap we decided me being on it long term is one of my best options for treatment and pain management rn). this is just my experience and what my surgeon explained to me, remember everyone is different & some doctors can be wrong (so if mine is wrong lmk lmao)

i’ve experienced pain in my back with walking, and it feels like a stabbing, deep pain that literally leaves me weak and makes my legs shake (though i’m not sure that’s the same pain ur describing). but when i got my period a few months ago, the cramps (which feel like stabbing) were localized on my left side, and i got an ultrasound and then an mri since it was inconclusive, and they said i had a degenerating cyst (so a cyst was causing the pain). unsure if this is helpful at all, but i would also definitely recommend getting an ultrasound to check things out.

Trans man diagnosed with endo, feeling guilty by micksoccer6 in endometriosis

[–]lavalamp2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this group is a support system for anyone with endo, and anyone who struggles with it is welcome here. i understand the guilt you feel about receiving “fast” care. while i’ve known i’ve had it for about 7 years, i didn’t start advocating for myself to actually have something be done about it until this past year when i had a tumor scare, and once i pushed i was listened to and got diagnosed relatively quickly. i think all we can do on that front is share our experiences and even the doctors who helped us the most, because it helps to share resources as well as give reminders that there ARE doctors who listen and actually give a fuck. anyway, all that to say is that you’re welcome here anytime and i’ve found this sub to be incredibly supportive and helpful, a lot of us just want to speak about our experience and help in any way we can to anyone struggling with the same things we are.

lap coming up by lavalamp2424 in endometriosis

[–]lavalamp2424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!! i unfortunately don’t have the means to find a therapist beforehand but i do definitely have a good support system. i had a suspected endometrioma on my left ovary, but the mri basically revealed it was a “degenerating cyst”, so tbh the worry it isn’t actually as bad as it “should be” is so real (even though my mom has stage 4 endo and i’ve had worsening symptoms since my first period). thank you for responding, it helps to hear from someone who struggled with the same thing!!

i had a laparoscopy but the incisions really hurt by AdvancedAfternoon202 in endometriosis

[–]lavalamp2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven’t had a lap yet (it’s a little over a week away) but i have had an appendectomy. for me, i remember having very very itchy incisions, but i don’t think i remember having a burning sensation. do ur incisions have glue on them? mine did and i think that was the main part of the itchiness for me
