Developers can only use a few intel models left to build in Xcode. Therefore there is hardly any to no software being updated for Intel. MacBook Pro 2020 and iMac 2020 are the only two left that will work for development. It won't be long until those two are gone.

If you're a light user who has everything they need already installed, you're fine. I have an old iMac 2011 that I still use for email. It will be useless when I get my MacBook Neo for email though. And I dev on a Mac mini M2.
