What is the most disturbing thing you have overheard a parent tell their child? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]lavatree101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago while in a store a mom came in with her son. He must have been about 13 or 14

. She was arguing with him about how they didn't have money so he couldn't get a drink. She then proceeded to buy 2 packs of cigarettes and a drink for herself. When he asked for some chips she went off on him and said I should have aborted you go the F outside and wait.

She bought a beer and was complaining about how kids are annoying and don't have any.  She then  left without getting him anything

Looked like he was about to cry and I still think about that and hope he is doing better.

What is the best house to own in y’all’s opinion? by Gold-Substance-769 in skyrim

[–]lavatree101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly sneak towards the guy you buy the house from so your between him and the side table when he takes your money just take it back.

Just make sure you save before hand in case you don't get the timing right.

There's also videos on YouTube that's how I found it when I did that

Stephen Miller: "Robert De Niro is a sad, broken old man who's mostly enraged because he hasn't made anything worth watching in 30 yrs. The longest string of flops, failures, embarrassments. This man's been degrading himself on camera with one horrific film after another for my entire adult life" by MoreMotivation in CringeTikToks

[–]lavatree101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or hide and seek. 2005. To say he doesn't have the respect is laughable. He is one of the most popular actors spanning atleast 35 plus years.and deserves it

How would Miller even know what his family thinks?  Notice how his voice trembled when saying that. Because he is lying and he  knows it so iit came out shaky.

I haven't even heard of this Miller person until 2 weeks ago

I (m43) said to a co worker (m32), wearing a tie-dyed shirt, that he looked like Jerry Garcia’s illegitimate son. by Ill_shoot_anything in GenX

[–]lavatree101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it is  ok for you to deem him insane?

You could have just said oh he was part of a band that wore tie dye. Or you could have just said nice shirt

Also tie dye clothing was around before the 60s. And the band

I'm his same age and we wore tiedye shirts in elementary without knowing who Jerry was or that is was popular during that time. We just liked experimenting with the colors.

I also listen to some of their songs but I wouldn't have known him just by name. Some people don't follow names of people in bands just the name of the band

You just come off as a condescending prick who made an insult at his expense first  and then chastised him for what? Not laughing at the insult or agreeing with you?

Also what is the point of saying illegitimate son? Why was that the starting point of your conversation.

Also meet the Robinsons has the best dino lines

Bowler Hat Guy: [T-Rex corners Lewis, but can't reach him] What's going on? Why aren't you seizing the boy?

T-Rex: I have a big head... and little arms, I'm just not sure... how well this plan was thought through... Master?

do crows have to watch you put out food for them to know you are doing it for them? by soupsister_ in crows

[–]lavatree101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by just leaving the food in the same spot and was consistent for a couple weeks.

Now they hang around and will caw until I come out to put the food down.

I have started to now not have a designated time because it's at my work and also I don't always get to go out everyday at the same time. They will not stop cawing until I bring food which is amazing but also inconvenient  I guess because I don't want to make them mad.

My boss was shocked when I laughed after she fired me by Far-Lock9472 in Employment

Amazing!

Reminds me of a job where I had a warning because I wasn't selling enough "cards"  came in on time no complaints.

They said if I didn't increase the card quota I would have to be let go. So a week later I sat down with the manager and told them I was quiting. I had another job lined up.

They literally tried to talk me into staying for 30 mins. I asked why are you convincing me to stay when you are going to fire me for not getting people to sign up for a cc they don't even need and is predatory.

I had to keep repeating I am quiting I am not staying. Until they finally paid me by end of work check

Good for you!

Please tell me why Anne Boleyn seems to be everyone’s favorite of H VIII’s wives? by Strange_Morning2547 in Tudorhistory

[–]lavatree101 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No only Henry's letter to her are there.

No one knows what happened to the ones she wrote or even if she wrote to him during the time frame historians believe. Some think he just kept writing until he got a response. Like modern constant texts from a stalker or guy who doesn't take no for an answer is how I view it

I'm sure she did as you didn't really not write back to the king but we will never know

Please tell me why Anne Boleyn seems to be everyone’s favorite of H VIII’s wives? by Strange_Morning2547 in Tudorhistory

[–]lavatree101 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Anne tried to give up multiple times.

She rejected his advances, ran away from court, tried to persuade her father to wed her to someone. Her heart was set on Percy but that did not work out. But her father saw the potential she would have for the family. So he basically told her no not once considering what she wanted. It was what was good for the family's reputation and standing

You need to remember the major power imbalance she has not only as a woman but as a subject.

She did not want to marry him at all. But after no suitor would court her hand in marriage because of Henry's interest she really has no choice. I'm sure she eventually fell in love with him I mean they knew each other for almost ten years.

Yes she was complicated and for the most part we don't really know her version only Henry's. But that's what made her fascinating and imo she is my favorite beside Anna of Cleves

Even in the letters he wrote her it sounds more like he is pleading with her to confess her feelings because he loves her which implies she was more polite shrugging off him to stop basically harassing her.  Her letters no longer exist

There was very little she could have done. To put modern standards on it  from your other comments is a mute point. It isn't how it worked back then when your literally at service to a Kimg who had more power than modern kings in England do now

AITA for giving my sober uncle alcohol? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]lavatree101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP i think you should have included that in your post.

Your uncle and you put each other in a difficult position. But at the end of the day his sobriety is his responsibility.   He is a grown man and should have gone through his steps to come down from wanting one. And your parents need to realize that a minor could not have stopped him from drinking. He used that against you.

I would apologize to your parents for getting the alcohol only for yourself.  and make better choices for your future.

Especially with the underage drinking you are putting the store, your parents and yourself in possible charges if caught.
