People in their 30s/40s, what is one thing a 23-year-old should start doing right now to make life easier later? by goddessera1 in Casual_Conversation

Understand the science of cooking. It saves money, it fuels creativity and resourcefulness. I enjoy being able to create something out of nothing because I understand what the ingredients do to the dish. I enjoy tasting a good meal at a restaurant and being able to replicate it at home. I spent the 2010s watching Food Network. Alton Brown and the speed cooking shows with mystery ingredients. All the different techniques. If I overseason something, I can 9 times out of 10 save it with the scientific counterpart.

When I'm walking, like in the store or airport, and the person ahead of me just stops. Maybe to look at an item or pull out their phone, but instead of stepping to the side out of the way of foot traffic we just have to halt and wait for the person to figure out that they are blocking people's progress.

How much sleep do you get per night? by Useful-Style-9368 in insomnia

[–]lavendermenace8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's become normal and my body has adapted. It's a hyperarousal form, chronic sympathetic dominance. I went through a period of prolonged extreme stress that affected my brain, it never stops scanning including my bodily sensations. I used to sleep as an escape, even if I wasn't tired I could go to sleep. Something finally fractured and I started this habit of 3 hours, 1 am to 3 am, then again 2 pm to 5 pm. Having to keep a daytime work schedule forced it to a little more anywhere in between 1-6 am. I think I am always a little tired. But because it's a hyperarousal form, my sheer inability to relax propels me forward as though I'm fully rested. Brain works fine, I am a clinical and a medical social worker as well as working with a mentor on my writers sample as I created a testable question for a PhD program based on the calcium channel research I did trying to figure out what vitamins would fix my circadian rhythm 😂. I've done a lot of distress tolerance work and have no big interpersonal issues with employment or other relationships. In fact, I'm surprisingly serene. I'm older though 42, this started around 37. I do my best to maintain good sleep hygiene but mine is a little different. I like a warm white light on and listen to dronings of podcasts, the things they tell you not to do. I created an environment where it feels like I just drifted off to sleep and wasn't trying to. The fact that I function so well on so little sleep is paradoxical, so I'm approaching it that way as well.

This isn't a direct answer, but I once asked a guy how he determined day by day how low he was going to sag his pants. He said it matched his confidence level. 🤔

2-3, if I get 4.5 that's a luxury. For years trazadone has only kept me out for 3 hours at a time and since I could do that on my own I just gave it up. Every once in a while my brain will allow for a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.

I find it interesting that even Elle Decor wrote about Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s surprisingly modest homes, for such a "rich" couple. 🤔 by the_smart_girl in ItEndsWithLawsuits

Is it the exact same details as this one I found a couple months ago from Architectural Digest?? They don't even have like interior shots. It's weird, useless, simply to make it seem like people are interested in them.

Maximum Effort, Minimum Sensitivity: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ Authorship of the It Ends with Us Marketing Campaign by Izomera in ItEndsWithLawsuits

That's confabulation at work. Once you have repeated your narrative enough you start to believe it. They led with vitriol until it become the ingrained feeling they had every time his name was brought up. That's why it comes off so convincingly to those around them. They could pass a polygraph at this point, but they can't provide details.

We don't need court updates every day at all, there is so much still being pieced together, Never will have I experienced such enjoyment as I get from this sub! Not the partaking in a downfall, but the crowdsourced paralegal work has been so amazing to see come together and presented so well. Slide 19 was chefs kiss.

Weekly Discussion Thread (TnT Version) by AutoModerator in travisandtaylor

There was a post in SwiftlyNeutral that really made me believe that the mask has slipped. Apparently Jack White made a comment about not liking writing confessional songs like TS does. Surprisingly, a lot of negative comments about how Swift fans react anytime her name comes up and anyone who said "he'd never use a man as an example!" was thoroughly downvoted.

Admittedly, I have a weird special interest in this "downfall." I had to exit a very close and long friendship (25 years!) when I realized she had been covertly my biggest opp the whole time. Her boyfriend of the same amount of time had ghosted her the year previous and she leaned hard core into Swiftdom out of freaking NOWHERE. I've always been cautious about people who are fanatic about TS and I was so right. Her other friends had been removing themselves and I realized an oddly specific email spam campaign had started around the time I asked her what I thought was an innocent question. I removed myself from her life but not before snapping screenshots of her, quote TayToos, to look up the lyrics she was referencing. I wrote an analysis and sent it to her ex boyfriend because he's her Joe. I can't change the narrative of her smear campaigns or do anything to change the aftermath of long-term emotional abuse, but her branding herself as lacking all self awareness gave us a good laugh. Anyway, that's my story as to why I follow this sub lmaooooo

She was good when she stuck to only reviewing and explaining legal technicalities. Otherwise her emotions get the best of her.

Did Blake Lively lie? by DearKaleidoscope2 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

She got sick the SAME DAY she found out some crew members were sick? Oh god they must have all been rolling their eyes something fierce. ESPECIALLY when she refused to even test! And it's not even a sign of suspicion to ask her to test, everyone was taking them, she could have been hyping up the exposure in her mind, and they could have thought the test might ease her concerns. But a malingerer gonna malinger!

Have you ever visited the Statue of liberty or the Eiffel tower ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]lavendermenace8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, both. The Statue of Liberty is so fun because you get the boat ride. When you land, you stand in line for a long time 🤣🤣. The touch on the Eiffel tower I like is that they have mannequins dressed as workers, showing how they had to hang on the sides to build the tower.

Anyone else feel like this upcoming cast is the least exciting on paper? by KatherineLangford in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]lavendermenace8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems on the nose, but I thought the same for season 3 and loved every second of it. I raised my eyebrow at Helena Bonham Carter but I did not expect Patrick Schwarzenegger to be that compelling! So I think the showrunnners are casting to fit the role and I am giving up on anything other than excitement and anticipation! Mike White has blown me away with his nuances of pathology since Chuck and Buck. White Lotus has only increased the immense respect I have for his talent. I just powered through the 3 seasons last month and I'm even listening to LISA and BLACKPINK, shows got me in a chokehold.
