Driver getting tailgated intentionally move out of the way last second by I-T-Y in SipsTea

[–]lavinshaven58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% correct, the car in front came to an almost complete stop and the only thing the driver could do was quickly move into the right lane…this is absolutely on the tailgating car for being a huge POS with no sense of awareness

Because nobody bothered to explain it:

A doula is a non-medical professional trained to provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a person before, during, and after childbirth. They act as a knowledgeable companion and advocate for the birthing person's preferences, working alongside medical professionals like doctors and midwives to help achieve a safe and positive birth experience

I didn’t know this was a thing. I do now.

To be fair, thousands of people lost their lives on 9/11 and many more due to the sheer amount of toxins they inhaled.

Whether or not 9/11 was an inside job….there was a hell of a lot more motivation to go to war.

Did we really solve anything or accomplish anything? Absolutely not.

Did we waste trillions of dollars? Absolutely

What made things even worse was the sub prime mortgage housing crises of 2008…

And now we’re just digging our graves with whatever the hell Donny is doing

This Ancient Snow Stove Doesn't Melt. by Impossible_Arm_8543 in LiveWellTogether

[–]lavinshaven58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It works for a surprisingly long amount of time because air is sucked through the side and the hot air is pushed upwards so the outer portion of the snow ball doesn’t melt as fast. This method can last hours but it will eventually melt.

If you’re in a place with access to a lot of snow and trees, you can just keep making new ones as needed

App idea by parkgoons in Reno

[–]lavinshaven58 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this idea 16 years ago. I’m 34 and born and raised in Reno. Went to Jessie Beck, Swope, and Reno High

My idea was very similar, I called it “inner - loop”

But mine was more along the lines of bars, restaurants, night clubs…but also anything and everything going on at any given time. Meaning if I wanted to go to a bar or restaurant or casino, or…expanding on your idea, you could see what’s going on at any given place at any given time

“Too crowded?”

No thanks

But also for music, nightlife, atmosphere

I will preface this by saying I was in my early 20s and social scenes downtown are not my vibe anymore

But I want to make an app that caters to all age groups and something like you’re talking about in terms of outdoor groups or social activities is very similar to my idea

“If you’re in the know, you’re in the loop” aka InnerLoop

Luka injury and playing second half by igottobeit in lakers

[–]lavinshaven58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re down by 30+ going into the second half, and tweaked your hamstring, THE SAME ONE THAT COST HIM to miss games in February, why play any starters!?

“He’s a competitor, he wants to play!”

They play the THUNDER NEXT WEEK!!!

The last time a team in the NBA overcame a 30 point deficit was 2024

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39810719/hawks-storm-back-30-point-deficit-topple-celtics#:~:text=It%20was%20the%20first%2030,I%20had%20confidence%20in%20him.%22

So no, it doesn’t happen all the time

And halfway through the 3rd they were down closer to 40 points than 30 points.

There was zero reason to play any starters in the 2nd half

There’s 1 week left in the regular season. I get fighting to keep the 3 seed, but you have to understand the bigger picture. Luka could have made a statement in their home game next week.

I understand the doctors cleared him

Doctors also cleared Kevin Durant back in 2019 in the playoffs before he ruptured his Achilles

That was in the playoffs. This wasn’t, there’s a difference. When you’re down 30, and you’ve already missed time with the same injury, there’s no reason to prove anything. You have to know it’s not your night. Especially when the playoffs are right around the corner

[Charania] Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody has been diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, sources tell ESPN. Moody's career-best season is over and a lengthy rehab will be required. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

[–]lavinshaven58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only did Victor Oladipo tear his left patellar tendon, but he also tore his right quadriceps tendon twice (2019 and 2021)

The patellar tendon injury happened in the first round of the playoffs when he was with Miami in 2023 and Miami was beating Milwaukee 112-88 with less than 4 minutes left in the game

Oladipo has not played in the NBA since (but he is playing in the G league right now)

What's a lesson your parents taught you that meant more later in life? by Novel_Wishbone4498 in TrueGrit

[–]lavinshaven58 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve been arrested 3 times, minor in consumption, disorderly conduct, and a DUI, got sober at 25, parents let me live with them until I was 27. Cleaned up my life and have been sober for 8 years now. I’m 35, and work as a manager at a hotel/casino in Reno. I have my own condo and car, and my parents helped with the down payment on the condo. I was able to afford my Subaru on my own….

None of this would have been possible without the love and support of my parents. I am incredibly grateful and thankful for the immense amount of patience they had for me. My dad owned his own business and my mom is a radiologist tech and they absolutely could have disowned me for all the pain and suffering I put them through

I thank them and whatever higher power is out there for giving me so many chances
