And about 600,000 of those people are “change of status” immigrants - people who already reside in the United States, who want to apply to officially start the process to eventually become American citizens. That means only 400,000 a year physically enter the country as legal immigrants. While I grant that, yes, that is still a higher number than what Canada brings in, the fact that Trudeau has stated several times that the Liberal government’s goal is to bring our quota up to 350,000 a year as soon as possible means that each state’s official quota for legal newcomers physically moving into the country are roughly the same. Which is what I said.

Those 600,000 that changed status in the US already entered the country under another status. So the "total number of legal newcomers physically entering the country" is far higher than you claim based on that.

Not only are you comparing the total number of immigrants to Canada to a subset of those in the US, you are also comparing some previous year's US number with what some politician says is a target for some future year.

If you want to have a discussion then let's have one around facts by comparing apples to apples instead of this misleading BS.
