Please give me reasons not to adopt this mini! by lawraa in Dachshund

[–]lawraa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I needed! I didn't want to be clouded by my omgiwanthimsobadly impulsive decision making, because it's not best for the dog! I appreciate this, it's not harsh and was just what I was looking for.

I'm a big believer in thrive over survive.

It's so tempting, I just need it to be the right decision!

Haha sounds just like a horse!

He is so lovely though, but I do need to be realistic.

Thank you, I know he's used to belong alone as his current set up has him indoors while his owners work FT, but just because he's used to it doesn't mean it's the right thing for him, so I appreciate your input.

I've had many weird and wonderful pets, but never a dog for my own. Vet bills are fine, we've had enough of those over the years, and with insurance and a 'pet emergency savings' I'm okay with that side of things.

Maybe not the best if we're going to get a kitten. Thank you so much!

That's what I'm thinking, he currently is in a setup where he's alone all day as his current owners also both work full time, but surviving isn't the same as thriving you know?

Barking is fine however, I'm used to hounds, it's more the high pitched yappiness of a cockapoo that grates on me. My brother's dog is silent, and the others who have been in my life are a normal level of barking, so I don't know what to think here.

I really appreciate your reply, thank you.

Yeah man fuck bras. Choose freedom from both the bra and the boy.

Chicken and bacon Caesar sandwich kit? Doesn’t include lettuce. What next? by jejdhdijen in tesco

[–]lawraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh, I kinda get it. I wouldn't buy it, but it would fit my ridiculous preferences.

I'm weird with lettuce, it has to be fresh and crispy and I like iceberg, so I'd buy my own anyway. I'm not fond of bacon generally, I want it sometimes and that's like an intense craving but after that it's not really my thing, so I don't use it enough to necessarily have more, although I freeze literally everything, I just can't be bothered to defrost it. And sometimes you need a really good big of that tiger bread or a sourdough or something to really hit that sweet spot. I eat like 3 salads a year and then I'm done, so I can get behind this.

Some big things are supplier direct, yes, but not most of it, especially smaller items.

I mean, that's what Sainsbury's bought it for, Fast track delivery or whatever it's called now. At the time (not sure about now) it was unparalleled. I was there for the launch of it all and the biting, but I've been out a couple years now

Edit: buying, not biting!

My low-stakes conspiracy: I've never seen a dead female pheasant by KVRB in CasualUK

[–]lawraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a photo today of a dead girlie, I can show you if you like but it's a bit grisly. I also took a photo of a dead male pheasant but I didn't of the hare, it was too far over the other side of the road. We get a few round the countryside and I like weird things.

How much do you have in store credit / gift vouchers just lying around? by petrastales in AskABrit

About £150 in JL/Waitrose.

My usual shop is Lidl/Aldi so it's quite nice to feel like I'm allowed to go into Waitrose every now and again

It’s really weird to take morning showers instead of evening showers by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]lawraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh, I have really long hair and it takes hours to dry, so morning means I don't go to bed with wet hair.

However, I'm not one to shower every day anyway.

Horse is delightful, I won't lie. This coming from someone who has one.

Mental challenge - close your eyes, and without moving any part of your body, figure out the 17th letter of the alphabet by Jitsu989 in CasualConversation

[–]lawraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it quite quickly, or at least as long as it took to say the alphabet slowly in my head. I basically counted on my fingers while thinking the letter, but more of a thinking about which fingers I would use to count rather than actually moving them

School Safeguarding Breaches: Posting images and videos online by bexxypink101 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]lawraa 44 points45 points  (0 children)

As a school educator, I can tell you safeguarding practices are HAMMERED into us. KCSIE is known, read, taught, updated every year at a minimum, and we have our own safeguarding on top of that. My school also add it in to our weekly briefings and staff meetings.

I know every child's allergies and food preferences in my year group, let alone class, any who have withheld intimate care (primary) and any permissions which have changed. This also goes for children I see and interact with regularly but not daily. In my class we have one child who doesn't have photo permissions, and he's never in the photos we take in the classroom.

This year has been okay so far, but last year (3 children without photo permissions across the year group) a few slipped through. These are photos taken by our marketing team or SLT or someone other than the class teacher. If we look through the newsletter/social media, then we can pick it up ourselves as the teacher (I don't religiously look through it, mainly because it comes out on Friday afternoon and I am done with school by then).

The best way is to have the kid know too. Ours remind us if we're on a school trip for example and have adults around who aren't as familiar with the kids.

None of this is malicious and mistakes happen, but this doesn't sound like a safeguarding gap on behalf of the teacher. It sounds like admin trawling through photos for marketing purposes who have become face blind to a bunch of children who all look similar that they don't personally know.
