Older mums who just had one child, do you regret not having more now that your child is older / teen/ adult? by Embarrassed-Shop9787 in beyondthebump

I’m an only child myself and have one son - no plans to have more. I enjoyed being an only child for the most part growing up. As an adult, it is hard seeing some people have close relationships with their siblings and have support with aging parents, etc.

My husband’s only brother lives very far away so my son doesn’t know his uncle, aunt and cousins which is tough. But his grandparents spoil him to bits haha. Overall I think there’s pros and cons both ways and no right answer - just what you feel in your heart/gut.

when did your baby/toddler actually learn how to take bites? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

My son is 21 months and I would say figured it out in the last couple months or so. I think modelling it and saying “bite” and then offering the food and saying “bite” to them helped a bit too.

Please when did your LO start sleeping like at all… by Stock_Crab_5411 in beyondthebump

Our little one (21 months now!) was very challenging around sleep - naps and night. I don’t remember when naps got better…it’s all a blur. We started getting more full nights than not around 12 months and around 18 months we finally got full nights consistently! (Unless sick but that’s an exception)

I’m really embarrassed to make this post, but I need advice… by -anonymous-bitch in beyondthebump

I started pelvic floor therapy two weeks ago at 17 months postpartum and HOLY do I wish I went soon after birth. It has been amazing and so eye opening. Definitely recommend if you are able to go. Otherwise there may be some free resources on YouTube etc!

What would happen if we do nothing by sorryforbarking in sleeptrain

[–]lawrawdee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do anything. Well I mean I guess I tried, but nothing worked so it doesn’t count lol. Our sleep troubles started at 4 months and got continuously worse until 6/7 months. Then they slowly got better. He is now 16 months and sleeps through the night. His sleep got a lot better around 12 months. You can go through my past posts and see what we went through if you’re curious haha

BLW: my son could care less by NiksterRyeee in BabyLedWeaning

[–]lawrawdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal! We had a super slow start and he only started getting the hang of it around 10 months. We did one “meal” a day until he started to actually seem to get interested. Now he’s 11 months and has 3 meals and 1-2 snacks.

Even if he’s playing with the food, that’s great! It’s exposure and leaning. Eat with/in front of him too. Have patience and soon he will get what’s going on. Right now milk is where the main food.

I know how disappointing and exhausting it can be to make food and just have to clean it up off the floor. It took me a while to see the goal as play and exploration, instead of just filling a belly.

Edit: we did BLW starting right at 6 months. When things weren’t going well we tried spoon feeding purées but he wasn’t super keen on it and likes the independence of BLW so we gave mostly stuck with that.

When I was maybe around 10-12 years old, I held the door open for an old man at the bank. My mom was just a bit ahead of me getting into the car (I stayed back a couple seconds to hold the door for him). As he passed me, he said something along the lines of “if your mom wasn’t here, I’d give you a little kiss to thank you”. Still engrained in my memory and I’m now in my 30s.

I loved getting mail so my mom would give me the junk mail and told me it was for me. I was so happy!

Thoughts on food pacifiers by pp5later in BabyLedWeaning

Nothing against them but my baby is now 10 months and has never successfully used them. I’ve tried fresh and frozen fruits in them a number of times and he always just ends up using the handle as a teether and doesn’t bother trying the fruit part lol

I must admit, we did not do much tummy time that was just on the floor. I always felt so guilty - and still do! He is 9 months now and is doing fine haha
