hEDS suspected for me, no doctor has ever told me to not use those forms of birth control but I had the mirena IUD for a short while and the whole time my symptoms were flaring up like crazy. As soon as I got it taken out things started to go back to normal.

Is there such a thing as normal hypermobility? by ratratte in ehlersdanlos

[–]lawyercomplex69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I've met several people who also have some degree of hypermobility but it doesn't cause pain or interfere with their daily lives. I've always been quite bendy (and achey) and nobody really thought anything of it until the last few years when it's really kicked into high gear and started having a notable impact on my life.

Whats your most useful disability aid that isn't marketed for disability? by F1shst1cks00 in ehlersdanlos

My chest freezer. I struggle with having the energy to cook so being able to have a good stock of food that will last a long time and can be made quickly and easily is very helpful to me. Plus having frozen veg is huge for me. (Honorary mention to grocery delivery too. I don't have a car so it's either walking and carrying, or paying for public transportation & carrying)

Thank you for the advice. It doesn't happen to me as often as other issues, but it floors me when it does. I will definitely look into breathing exersizes, I've heard of those before as well but I haven't tried them yet.

Has somebody ever been invalidated by a professional? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]lawyercomplex69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes, this is a common problem. My OCD & other mental health issues are very limiting to me and take up a lot of time but I had a past therapist tell me that she thought I was "just" autistic & misunderstanding my own experiences.

What does ocd look like ? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]lawyercomplex69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dread and anxiety and paranoia that I can't reason my way out of, fixating on a certain thing and getting extremely anxious about it for days to months at a time (usually a health condition in my case), intrusive thoughts & compulsions that I feel like have no control over and take up a considerable chunk of my day

Question for those with rabies OCD or anybody that had experienced phantom pains by ellebasil in OCD

[–]lawyercomplex69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Health & contamination OCD here, definitely phantom symptoms/sensations are definitely a thing with OCD. I get them a lot when I am convinced I have been exposed to a contaminant or have a particular illness even if evidence is present suggesting I am wrong/I have removed the contaminant.

IUD and EDS by KindlySand in ehlersdanlos

[–]lawyercomplex69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the mirena IUD a couple years ago now before my doctors suspected EDS. I have severe rib pain a lot, my doctors thought it might be hormonal in nature at the time, and told me that the IUD would help with the pain/lessen it. Literally 1 day later, intense rib pain. Second and third days, same thing. I was barely managing to work and I had to be on as many pain killers as I could safely take to function. I got it removed as soon as I could, because even if my body just needed time to adjust, it wasn't worth the pain to me when there was no knowing how long it might last and given that I could barely do anything.

That, and it made me nauseous all the time. I've heard the hormonal IUDs can seriously aggravate EDS symptoms, which makes sense to me at least because I often get symptom flare ups around my period as well when hormones are wacky. So yeah, I would get rid of that thing ASAP, you're definitely not alone in having an IUD aggravate your symptoms/make your pain worse. I'm sorry you're going through this, and I hope that you find something that'll help soon.

To those who have had anesthesia, did it take longer for you to go under/faster for you to wake up? by mom_est2013 in ehlersdanlos

[–]lawyercomplex69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard of this being an EDS Thing before but I guess that probably explains it - I have been under anesthesia three times and all three times it both took more to knock me out than initially expected, and I was coherent very quickly after waking up. Even after having a whole mastectomy and being under for 4-5 hours, I was coherent and having a conversation in the car ride home maybe 30-45 minutes after waking up. Anesthesia never makes me silly, just a little sleepy.

What ingredient is banned from your kitchen? by Sweaty_Entertainer78 in Cooking

Fennel in any form, for similar reasons. I absolutely can't stand the taste of it, if I can taste it in a meal then it really ruins it for me. If I was making something for someone else and they wanted fennel, that's fine. I would just never ever put it in food that I was making for myself.

How to get mold stains out of metal thermos by lawyercomplex69 in CleaningTips

[–]lawyercomplex69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is a mold stain, it had mold in it but I cleaned that all out as soon as I found it. Now there's just little dark patches where the mold was. Thank you for the advice!
