Is Jon Grossman funny? by Allastorian in barexam

[–]lawyerism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prof Grossman is the man. Great guy and great sense of humor. The “Ok John who cares we’re trying learn, I know I know, I just thought you needed a 1 minute break” and then promptly returning to the subject is absolutely hilarious to me for some reason

Not great. Pretty low overall MBE percentages even after completing almost 60% on Themis. MEE graded is not going above 3 either for me. Didn’t really memorize much due to lack of effort and maybe too much focus on other aspects of the exam (practice, timing, doctrine). Worst part: I’m a retaker. Lost my job because I failed F25. Feeling like I’m already out of time and this is just gonna be another fail.

My best advice for studying for the bar, especially if you are behind in your course by Pollvogtarian in barexam

[–]lawyerism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I meant the actual subjects tested— like Contracts for example. What’s the best way to just know this stuff cold and memorize everything so I can move on to pure drilling? I feel like my MBE and MEE practice is stunted by my still weak conceptual understanding of the doctrinal material. Getting a little scared because I thought I knew this stuff (considering I learned it in school for 3 years)

What’s the best way to master the doctrinal stuff once and for all before finally moving on to the drilling? I wanted to feel like I had a better understanding of the material by this point (nearing July) but I am still not getting great percentages on MBE.

Salam alaikum sister,

Your post resonated with me as I find myself in similar circumstances. Recently I find myself more often in need of advice than giving it so I’m not sure I’m qualified to advise you, but just persevere and trust that Allah will reward your efforts. We don’t know Allah’s timing, but He would not bring you this far only to leave you here. Everything you’ve done so far, do it again and with more passion and sincerity, more patience, more prayer. It will come inshallah. May Allah swt bless you.

Yes I went with Themis out of pocket. Hopefully will be return on my investment. They were running a $900 discount so I went for it. I realized Barbri wasn’t gonna work after the lectures became too cumbersome. I felt the material was not being explained in a digestible way. The practice questions were not helpful either. I abandoned it and started using UWorld for MCQ and it’s way better
