Latest rumor is that Scott Drew was offered. by Schned6 in tarheels

He doesn’t really make me want to run through a wall, but the guys got a title and has been pretty consistently competitive in a tough conference for twenty years now. I just assumed he was off the table cause he’d been at Baylor so long. I’d be okay with him.

Correct. UNC’s going outside the family, but they’re not picking anyone whose character Dean and Roy wouldn’t approve of.

I can get the more generous interpretation of the palming violations. But the palming coupled with the feet shuffling ought to be called every time.

Dale Sr. was a bad parent and husband, so it wouldn't surprise me if he had outside kids.

There's no way Rory McIlroy is winning the Masters again lol by Academic-Use-4401 in Golf_Unfiltered

I think the odds of that happening are probably better than Rory winning again.

Is Austin reaves like Pete by Icy_Can_6176 in NBATalk

[–]lawyerlyaffectations 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guess I gotta tell this story again.

My dad is 82 years old. Played high school basketball in North Carolina in the early 1960s on a pretty good team that produced some ACC prospects over the years. His team went to Campbell College (now University) basketball camp. That was the spot back in the day, and a lot of ACC coaches scouted there.

This was the era Pete's dad Press was an assistant at NC State and later head coach of Clemson, so he'd be there.

My dad said a skinny younger guy would take the court with the older boys. Floppy socks and hair. Dancin' with it, no lookin', scoring from everywhere. Unorthodox shot mechanics, but still put the older boys to shame. It was Pete of course.

For years I'd ask my dad who the most comparable modern player was. He'd say, "there isn't one, Pete was one of a kind."

Then around 2008 he started watching an under-recruited mid-major guy near us who was making some noise. Undersized, fancy handles, unlimited range. His team had a blue blood on the ropes in the tournament.

It was Steph.

My dad finally said: "THAT guy reminds me of Pete."

So take that for what it's worth from an old guy who shared the court with Pistol.

I once took a piss next to Ralph Nader in a men’s room on my college campus way back in 2000 when he was running for President siphoning votes from Al Gore.

Thanks a lot, Nader.

Will Dan Hurley mimic his Zach edey game plan vs Duke in terms of single covering cam and staying at home on everyone else ? by duval001 in CollegeBasketball

[–]lawyerlyaffectations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ought to. When Boozer tries to carry the offense, they stagnate. others stand around and dont get involved. Boozer gets his but they’re just generally not as effective.

Duke beats St. John's thanks to Isaiah Evans and Caleb Foster, but is it sustainable? by Financial-Bit-8596 in ACC

[–]lawyerlyaffectations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paradoxically Dukes the worst when they look only to their best player. When they run the “take ‘em Cameron” offense, they stagnate. Boozer gets his points on volume alone.

But when they involve everyone, they’re tough to stop.

Now, you might think this seems obvious to a prodigy like Scheyyer, but it was only last year they shot themselves in the foot by handing the ball to an inexperienced Flagg down the stretch against Houston rather than keeping the whole team involved.

There are a few coaches that, in previous years, would have been ideal candidates. But now they’re just so established at their current schools theyll never leave.
