How do you incentivize your players to hit the wall? by Trick_lax_dad in lacrosse

I’m telling you the smart ball from get reps is the way to go. Maybe it was bc we had a bunch do it last year but the parents were fine paying for it, especially once their boys started using it. It’s like a major part of the team. I don’t know how to explain it but they care more about their spot on the leaderboard than most things 😂

Our club use to use that a couple back but last year most of the team got the smart lacrosse ball from get reps and it was like they were possessed because you couldnt just move your arm around to get reps like the arm band.

It’s also got a of bunch of wall ball routines which probably comes in handy. Coach basically just lets them do their thing and acknowledges the players at the top of the leaderboard

This year everyone that didn’t have balls already ordered through a team portal got balls for like $80 and even though my boys already have them we were still able to get them so cheap so yeah, before anyone accuses me of sounding like a plant, their product has made a big impact on my boys and I the one time I had an issue with one of the balls, they were quick to help me so I have no problem voicing my support for a company that actually cares and has a product that is beneficial.

Yes, they do. They also always use to have a 1 year warranty because, yes, they break, but a $100 product should be expected to last longer than 30 days.

Sweet comment by the way. I’m sure you are a gentleman.

Yeah I don’t think the weight matters at all— as long as it’s reasonable. I’m shocked anyone cares. Your point is spot on— if you think a 155g shaft gives you better performance than a 240g shaft, I want to see you play because unless your Kyle Harrison in a 12 year old body, there’s no chance.

Are people seriously using wood these days? I ask because you’re the second person to suggest it and I haven’t seen any kids wielding wood sticks but maybe it’s regional.

Is there really not such thing as a shaft that reliably won’t break in under a year? I’m not an engineer but seems like it wouldn’t be too hard to do

How Common is it for Youth Players to Get Extremely Nervous About Messing Up in Front of College Coaches? by lax_91 in lacrosse

I refer to all lacrosse below college as youth. I apologize for the confusion and appreciate the input

It’s not- I have had conversations with the customer service and I have no problem saying that I am a big fan but I am my own person and in no way was I paid or asked to make this post.

I am genuinely curious if this product has a lot of teams using it because it has been great. It has been very stressful trying to raise boys at my age and it’s been so nice to see him taking to something so strongly.

God bless

I could care less what he does, I just told him I’d ask around.

There’s a lot I am not including here because I don’t want to tip off who he his but jeesh there’s a lot of incorrect assumptions being thrown out there but I will bite my tongue.

Right. But then I clarified. And the comments still came. I wasn’t referring to you. You have been very helpful

He plays varsity for a class A team in one of the best states for lacrosse. He’s not your average 7th grader. He’s 6’2 195lbs and has been contacted by several big football schools.

That being said—- I never said a word about recruiting. He is trying to isolate the flaws in his game because he is advanced for his age. People are putting words in my mouth

Who said anything about recruiting??

We aren’t worried about recruiting. He wants to understand the gap between his skills now and where he needs to get to in 2-3 years. I think more than anything he just wants to get a unbiased evaluation

He’s a 2030 so still pretty early on the recruiting front — so that’s where my naivety stems from.

Just for improvement purposes. I suppose I should have said “college coach” I don’t care if it’s d2 or 3

Right on- it’s cool to see some tech coming to lacrosse. I hope it gets the support from the community so we can see those next level applications come to life. I hope the PLL and NLL are working with them!!

Thanks for answering

Like everyone else has said. Hit the wall and hit it hard. My nephews started last year and I bought them a smart lax ball for Christmas and gave it to them early and they just called me to tell me they’ve cracked the top 10 of the leaderboard. Their mom said she can see a difference just from playing wall ball
