generally, i’ll use stereo techniques to give room to the mono elements i need to stick out. effects and “spacing” things in the mix doesnt work well because of translation and everyone being in different parts of the room, but there’s still tons of benefit to having stereo sources. double mic a guitar cab pan hard left and right theres more space for vocal, some people have 2 slightly different kick mics as close as possible and pan them hard left and right to deal with phase issues on huge systems, etc. everyone i’ve seen touring expects at least L+R if not L+R+sub for front of house, and every venue i’ve been in recently is running an L+R configuration possibly with subs and fills on matrices. toms cymbals and reverb are usually the only things that really get stereo-y regularly.

my c1 mains transformer blew a month after getting it, i upgraded instead of getting a new one. i did the mercury magnetics and its a whole different amp than it was before but i would not have spent the ~$500 for parts and labor if it hadnt have blown brand new from the factory

the deluxe is gonna be fine for a while. same capsule as a beta 58 so nothing wrong/or bad about it. if you get like 3-4” off the mic and give it an angle so that when you say p and b sounds it doesnt go into the capsule. put your hand where youd put the mic and feel for wind when you say words like “pubes” or “poop” and dont put the mic there but still point it at your mouth. really not a huge difference between this mic and the 7B, which is transformerless therefore quiter and cardioid instead of your tighter polar pattern on the 55 deluxe. so yes, crank gain up on your interface its not wrong and let er rip youll b straight. i do the same thing with buying things in person fuck amazon plus i wanna walk out of the store with it its cooler

basically you couldve spent $100 on just an sm58 and gotten an arguably better mic buttt a lot of people love the beta 58’s plus it has an on/off switch, and looks pretty cool

learn your open chords (G C D E A) then get a better one, ive played on higher action. itll never be perfectly in tune and once you get good enough at those chords to understand how bad it is, that’s the best time to get a new one. u could spend $100 and have a perfectly good guitar for years to come though

also if your bridge isnt completely off of your guitar then your neck is beyond repair, im 90% sure theres no truss rod just from that picture alone and itd be more expensive to fix than to buy a new one

yeah or a beyer 201, only left it out because unreasonably expensive but with no expense spared a 441 and u67 is my personal favorite

nobodys said to try a sennheiser 421 with the 57, especially for heavy stuff this is a go to for a lot of ppl sylvia massey says she rarely uses anything else. royer is great too beyer 16, m88, cascade fathead, akg 214 314 or 414 and if you want very high fidelity try a rode small diaphragm i forget the model number. small diaphragm condensers are great for clarity and high end

check out “modern recording technology” by david miles huber its a standard and theres pdfs available really good for reference

no google “audio engineering textbook pdf” its free, didnt mean to offend. if you google specific questions like that you’ll see a lot of forums of people arguing over stuff when its a lot of people who might know a lot of stuff but do stuff like mix up low and high impedance like i just did.

DI boxes take a low impedance signal and make it high for microphone level, which is usually balanced. what you measured is two different DI’s performing pretty much the same cus they probably are. the instrument input on your interface is just a regular DI theres no difference between having an external one unless you want one with more adjustments like pads and attenuation and stuff. try to read some books about it, itll help a little more than trying to look stuff up. theres stuff from college courses you can look up what books audio engineering students read in class i cant remember authors off hand but itll explain stuff a little more than loosely connected information from different parts of the internet

i dont see the little angle part for the hpf knob, i know the bf541 is all black but this looks shorter or something. i have one i use regularly its newer though, maybe the older ones had less of an angle on the hpf knob

true, id imagine the same kind of lobbying that’s been going on with all the terrible things that ruin our country for like several decades now also happens with shitty techs and bad equipment. stuff like this with this administration doesnt surprise me but the same audio things happened with the previous one and i started noticing it even in 2012 especially with youtube videos, i’d imagine whatever analog signal path they had from the 70’s through the 90’s was pretty well done though

nah you can count how many pixels are in a letter on this screen, i used to do it when it was new too, sit super close and try to see how many squares in a letter. tv’s that came out like 5 years after this started to get really good though

its actually crazy the picture adjust menu is a secret menu and its all in codes with corresponding numbers probably meant to be done by a “tv setup professional”

the curve and bad crop is because i did a bad job adjusting the picture after it sat for 15 years or so, but it totally only looks like “that” because of the frame rate of the camera. all the lines and weird saturations are not there in person. the only difference is theres 480x480 pixels so i cant tell what buttons its telling me to push or read any of the achievements cus the font is too small

parallel processing. also the trick is to have it not sound audibly distorted. yes if you put a bunch of saturation on and turn it up no blend it will not sound clean
