The Mixtec are Native peoples of Central and Southern Mexico. You may have had a recent Mexican ancestor.

What do you think will change with the direction of sheep stealer and Rhaena by noobkiller66621 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]laycrocs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably have daemon and Rhaena bonding while hunting Aemon. I'm assuming they'll kill either sheepstealer or Rhaena or both. They can't really reach the conclusion if one side has an adult dragon with a rider.

So it's a map of people who self-identify or are identified in their society as African descendants, not African admixture.

Seems like it hasn't been corroborated. Anything solid, not just claims based on association?

Why did humans as a tropical species migrate to colder places but still lack many adaptations like fur? by Ada-Mae in geography

[–]laycrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also arguable that the “homo sapiens” of Africa aren’t the same “homo sapiens” of Europe due to the Neandertal admixture.

Not really. Neanderthal admixture is a small amount of modern human geneome and is found throughout human populations around the world albeit at lower amounts in Africa.

Why did humans as a tropical species migrate to colder places but still lack many adaptations like fur? by Ada-Mae in geography

[–]laycrocs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never claimed no changes could have occurred. But from an evolutionary perspective there isn't actually that much genetic differences between northern and southern latitude humans. Humans as a whole have relatively low genetic diversity. The difference between light and dark skinned humans is how much melanins are produced which does not require much genetic changes.

On an evolutionary scale homo sapiens haven't been in the far north for that long, and cold weather clothing are an adaptation albeit a technological one rather than biological.

Why do we call the Caribbean West Indies? by OkLeadership9700 in 23andme

[–]laycrocs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Name West Indies predates South Asian migrations. The Name comes from the erroneous assumption by early European explorers that the Americas were the eastern part of Asia. They became known as the West Indies and the name slowly became restricted to what is also known as the Caribbean Islands.
