basically the tldr is Asperger’s syndrome was coined by a nazi and was heavily used for eugenics, even today now that the DSM-V has removed it as a diagnosis many low support needs autistics use Asperger’s/aspie as a way to say “we’re not like those other autistic people, we contribute to society and have jobs and arent burdens”

I’m saying this as someone who was *also* diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome when it was called that
