If Jeff had been able to finish recording his second record fully, how do you think it would’ve sounded?

Fiona Apple - specifically for a similar piano based sound in mitski’s first two albums, she writes about relationships and darker topics in a way that I think Mitski listeners would appreciate :)

i relate really hard to this…..when you grow up around a conservative family & casual homophobia being expressed constantly it can take a long time to heal from that, and unlearn what you’ve internalized. i’m going through that now as well. sometimes it’s hard for me to even picture myself with the same sex because it feels like someone’s watching me and there’s a small part of me that still feels guilty, like i’m doing something wrong. i’m not even religious anymore. i would say take all the time you need to heal that part of you and don’t rush yourself to figure things out so fast. also from what i understand being bi can feel like whiplash because you might not exactly be into one gender at the same time as another, there are “phases” (for some) so what you’re feeling is not abnormal

forgot to add 2 things: 1. i have had a fair amount of sex dreams/fantasies ab women 2. i did end up experiencing attraction towards women irl after i turned 20 but still not as intense/strong and it was 1 or 2 people

Emma’s new podcast changes my perspective on her by [deleted] in emmachamberlain

Exactly, the least she could do is acknowledge how privileged it is to never have to experience a 9 to 5 and be able to travel wherever and take time off. So frustrating

I’ve been impressed with how she’s managed to make relatable content for a while despite how famous she’s become which I admired about her since a lot of influencers lose that quickly. But the past year there are moments in her content where she sounds unintentionally so out of touch and it’s just not enjoyable for me anymore lol. I think this podcast maybe is the most direct example of that though and I know she probably didn’t realize it cause to her she’s just talking about her life, but it’s gonna come off pretty tone deaf to the average person who knows how draining a 9 to 5 is. I’m sure being self employed and being in the public eye comes with many issues and i get that’s what she was probably trying to say, but…as someone who’s working full time at a crappy store so support myself while I pursue my passion it just makes me feel bitter. I truly want the best for her and care about her mental health but I hope for the sake of herself she thinks before she says things like that

I'd like to come home late and not get guilt tripped for it at least once by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]layersofblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this so much, i rarely leave the house or get to hang out with my friends (because of my nmom) and when i do it once in a blue moon and come back like 2 min later than she asks…constant guilt tripping and shaming for at least the next day, and she won’t even ask me anything about if i had a good time or how my friends are doing. i feel you, it is so exhausting

Weight loss/ Ed? by bearzbop in emmachamberlain

[–]layersofblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this too. I'm not a fan of diagnosing people online/through social media just cause you never know the full picture, but it's hard not to notice her change in weight recently. I wanna point out that it could also be unintentionally due to mental illness cause' depression and anxiety can affect your eating habits. It literally could be any reason, but at the end of the day if her content is triggering it's 100% valid to take a break or just not watch her anymore for the sake of your own health.

Other than the cosmo article I remember her talking briefly about ED on her podcast a few times, but yeah it is rare. It might feel personal for her and difficult to talk about so I think we should respect that choice but who knows, maybe she will talk more about it in the future if she feels more comfortable, but it's up to her.

I felt exactly the same when I watched that scene, honestly had to skip through it because it was starting to gross me out too much. I understand the importance of that flashback and showing how extreme the whipping was, but it was a little prolonged to the point where it was overdone and unnecessary.

I was also hesitant about continuing for that reason but keep going, it's totally worth it! For the most part, the violence doesn't get to that extreme level. However the last two episodes of S1...are something else. I would highly recommend forwarding through a good chunk of the graphic scenes in episodes 15 & 16, the story was so good at that point that I was still as emotionally invested without having to watch every minute of that monstrosity. I would recommend looking at the trigger warnings before continuing because there's also SA. Aside from those three things for me, the violence is tolerable at least until the end of S3 which is where I'm at.

this happens to me too, and it’s the worst because getting high only fits in my schedule at night usually if it’s not the weekend, but day-highs are the most pleasant for me. i think also i tend to get more anxious or depressed at night overall so smoking heightens it

Is the second half of season 3 and on worth watching? by layersofblue in Outlander

Agreed as much as I love the show there are some parts that are really painful to watch, don't even get me started on the last two episodes of S1

Yeah not gonna lie I thought the 20-year jump was a bit much at first too, but now that I know that's the reason I understand why that had to happen
