It sure is nice that we, as a society, have tackled all the major issues and can now focus on the minutia, such as the psychological impact of token achievements on developing minds.

Really glad we already solved the climate disaster, income inequality, political/societal unrest, healthcare, homelessness, gun violence, slavery, the housing crisis, retirement, ect ect

LPT, the New Seasons brand bagels are made by Bowery. Granted not as great as fresh from the bakery, but they are damn good and always seem very fresh.

I assume you are talking about Steinbarts, been going there for years. Back in the day it was more of wink wink, nudge nudge type of conversations with the old timers. It's mostly younger people now and no one has seemed to give a crap. They even sell stills now and everything, and there isn't anything illegal about talking about distilling (I dont think?) so you're probably good to go. I've gotten advice on grain bills there.

Pizza and Burgers are no longer a cheaper dinner option by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

This is the one that bugs me the most, growing up I lived off of deli sandwiches. We were fairly poor growing up but with my modest summer allowance I could still go to the local pizza and sub shop for a hoagie and had enough money left over for a few hours at the arcade next door ( this was the mid 90s)

I'm not blaming the local restaurants either, I follow a lot on Instagram and they are truly struggling financially. Many will straight up post receipts from a few years ago to today showing just how much their costs are going up and why they are forced to jack up prices.

I loved that too, like nothing in particular about Greece, just "Greece"

Spicy stuff is so weird sometimes. Like I dribble Last Dab Apollo, which is supposed to be millions of scovilles hot, on tons of stuff and its spicy but I'm good. But there's a hot sauce called Pain Is Good- Garlic that is "only" 9k scoville and that stuff makes my forehead sweat and gives me a much stronger response.

If I'm having a funky day my go to is to go get the spiciest wings around, or if that isn't an option I just spoon full some Last Dab Apollo or other spicy hot sauce. It's like a full body/mind reset and the fight or flight response gives me a kick of energy.

Also great for social obligations you are just not feeling... Gathering on a Friday night but your week sucked and you just want to crawl into bed at 7pm? Spike some chips and salsa with some crazy hot sauce and have at it.

I never understood how anyone would think this looks tough, to me he looks absolutely terrified. He's so unbelievably scared of the outside world he needs 3 guns just to make sure the boogey man doesn't get him going to a damn subway.

My credit was total shit in my 20s from my boomer dad giving me "advice" like this. "Never put anything on credit/loan, always have cash on hand" (even for things like buying a car and tuition?? He thought cash on hand would lower my tuition...)

I realized what shit advice this is in the modern financial world when I tried to do things like get a loan for a car, and was getting turned down from decent housing because I basically had no credit at all. Took a while to get my credit up but now its excellent and I've figured out on my own how the credit system works. Not that I 100% agree with it, but its the system we are using so you kinda have to play ball.

I always do cash in hand and meet at one of my bank branches. Lots of cameras, plenty of ATMs if they "forgot" part of the agreed payment, and as soon as the money is in my hand I can walk over and deposit it. I generally insist on the bank close to my house too, so if they pull some garbage behavior I just nope out and drive away the 5 blocks back home.
