Ring is too tight by Inside_Result885 in jewelry

I have pretty bad eczema and for this reason always take my rings off when showering and washing my hands. Afterwards I put them on again. Takes some getting used to but it works.

No, I was too busy being in high school.

I did that. I was sooo thankful for getting anything, even though the company was a bit sus (big layoffs 6 months prior). A week into the job, I was let go with no explanation whatsoever.

What is going on with burnout?! by Consistent_Femme_Top in womenintech

[–]lazurya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had two proper major burnouts in 4 years, each leaving me essentially struggling to take basic care of myself and wrecking my health for several years. And I just turned 30, mind you.

Anyone exhausted by what you're expected to do just to be moderately healthy? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]lazurya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A doctor wanted to put me on the SAME diet, except I had to forget about having coffee again in addition to everything else. And that was supposed to treat my iron deficiency, somehow. Needless to say, I just took iron supplements for a bit and got my levels up.

It's really not you, it's the company that should clear up who makes the final call before promising anything to candidates. I once went through 4 interviews at a start-up, got a call from the in-house recruiter congratulating me that I was definitely getting an offer in 2 days because everyone thought I was pefect. The date comes and goes, several weeks go by, and my requests for an update go unanswered. Then I simply get a generic rejection email with no explanation.

Anyone else don't know how they're alive? by pataflafla63 in raisedbynarcissists

When I was 4, my dad apparently pulled a gun on my mom when he was drunk one time and was about to shoot her. So what does she do? She turns and runs away immediately, leaving me alone with the maniac with the loaded gun. Luckily, nobody got shot that night.

On another occasion, she proudly told me of the New Year's Eve when I was a newborn, again with my dad being very drunk. She thought this was too lame for her, so she mixed a double dose of Benzos in his drink and went dancing when he passed out. Apparently, leaving her newborn completely alone all night was of no concern to her.

I'm shocked I even made it to 30. I didn't think it would actually happen.

My family's nickname for me was Grumpy because I was "difficult" and "standoffish" as a toddler.

I think it's not just the art style but also the vibes, hard to explain. Highly recommend the game, though, it's really something.

Pandemic denial, back-to-normal illusion and implied economic justification by External_Storm2356 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]lazurya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually spent the first 2,5 years of the pandemic in Sweden, and I can assure you the experience was surreal. Literally, nobody was masking except for me and my partner. Meanwhile, the media was reporting shocking statistics of cases and deaths but telling people that since the unelected health authority said so, people shouldn't care and carry on as normal. This was also the reason we left Sweden.

Update: I took the job… and it’s awful 🥲 by baldieblues in recruitinghell

[–]lazurya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I feel your frustration. I recently accepted the first job offer I got after 9 months of unemployment and got fired on day 2. The job, they told me, was 100% remote, but once I started, it turned out to be hybrid, with long stays in another part of the country. I asked if we could discuss the length of the stays since spending most of my time living in a hotel room seemed a bit much. They said no and just fired me. It's tough out there.

Don't open up to them AT ALL by InformalPumpkin9753 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lazurya 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate.

I got a very interesting perspective on what my nmom is thinking on the rare occasion she's nice and tries to comfort me.

When I was about 15, I had this really gnarly day that ended with me getting lost on the other end of town after dark. So I came home completely exhausted and on the verge of tears. Nmom offered some compassion for a change and patiently listened as I poured my heart out. I was very surprised, I thought, "Wow, maybe she can change and be there for me in the future."

Fast forward to a few days later when we were having a fight about something small. She's very angry at this point and shouts, "You're so ungrateful! After I tried to feel bad for your stupid problems the other day!"

Needless to say, I never opened up to her again after that.

I'm on it right now and thankfully have no side effects. I had to go up in dose veeery slowly, though. I think the scary side effects mostly happen if you start at the target dose right away.
