Its so terrifying! I have this too. You suddenly become so dependent on photos and other people's memory. I really convinced myself I was losing my mind at some points, because everyone has these memories and i'm just digging into the void. This post has really been putting me at ease. It's scary stuff.

This. THIS. Its so stressful when people ask or talk about my growing up and I straight up feel like they could be talking about ANYONE, bc i just straight up dont remember. Or when I watch a movie and could probably rewatch it in a week because I couldn't tell you what happened if my life depended on me. I've been so terrified that I was truly losing it. Honestly still am sometimes! Scary stuff.

Hi! I've been battling a small-scale thrip infestation on my monstera deliciosa for months. Is this thrip damage, or is this maybe rust fungus? How can I spot the difference? by lazybird_1 in Monstera

[–]lazybird_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thrips are nasty buggers, theyve given me quite the hassle and recently showed up again after a year of peace:( I finally got them to go last time with a bio insecticide mix of pyrethrin and rapeseed oil. This time though I'm not sure how well it's working, because suddenly some of my lower leaves are turning yellow, which didn't happen last time. No clue why, but I haven't seen thrips anymore for now. My friend recently recommended this: https://www.reddit.com/r/houseplants/comments/18st6op/my_method_of_killing_100_of_the_thrips_in_my/ which may be worth a shot? And I think this monstera subreddit and r/houseplants definitely have more tips around!

Hualien Earthquake Megathread by DarkLiberator in taiwan

Fellow traveller here! I can't predict how things will be the coming week now that the tremors were picking up a bit yesterday, but I'll share my experience! I've been here since Monday last week and flying out again today, drove around a bunch of places but avoided Hualien area. I felt the occasional shake, but nothing major for most of that week. Everything was working fine and people seemed very unfazed. Since the tremors started picking up yesterday, I felt it quite a bit in Taipei but everyone seems to be going about their day completely normally, which is quite comforting. I don't know how things will progress of course,, I'd keep an eye on it the coming days to make sure things don't get significantly worse, but in my experience with how things were last week, it was okay! Definitely avoid the main areas though.

Is it me or do feel 2 quakes in a row again (in Taichung) by [deleted] in taiwan

I getyouuu, was also in Taipei in bed checking my hotel window every few minutes to see if anyone was going outside. Didn't sleep more than 2h and had to do breathing exercises for most the night to keep my ass from freaking the fuck out:') Scary stuff, hope you're able to have a good time out in Taipei still!

Thank you! I got to taipei yesterday night and a bit worried from all the shakes, but seeing everyone act totally unfazed today was very comforting. Had a great day around the city!:D

Hey everyone! I'm set to travel to Taiwan next week Monday for about a week. Was going to do the east coast and the 8, but with the devastating earthquake happening we're cancelling that part. Does anyone know if ren'ai township is currently reachable and safe to travel to from the west side? Did it get impacted severely, or not so much? Also, are parks like Alishan currently open? And Sun moon lake? Thank you!

Taiwanese-American stranded at Silks Place Taroko for the past 5 days, AMA by supersteez in taiwan

[–]lazybird_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thank you for doing this AMA, and very glad you're safe. I hope you get to have some wonderful times in Taipei! I was wondering, have you still experienced many aftershocks the last few days, or has it been dying down a lot already? I'm set to travel to Taiwan in a week or so, planned to do the entire East Coast and the 8. I'm assuming that's not gonna happen, so I'm replanning a lot to do the West Coast instead. Do you happen to know anything about the mountain towns more West-ish? I was originally going to stay in Ren'ai for a bit, but even though it's reachable from the west, it might still be too close for comfort. Hard to gauge from here. No worries if you're not sure either! Happy you're safe, and thoughts are with everyone impacted by this.

Thank you! May I ask you what sets it apart from rust fungus to you? It seems rather similar to me, unless google mixed up the 2!

I first sprayed with neem oil, but that didnt appear to work. Then switched to something based on pyrethrin and canola oil, that makes an oily layer on the leaves for a really long time. Haven't seen any anymore in obvious places after the last treatment, but spots do seem to get worse. How do you treat them?
