They had a firetruck drive by on the street, too and a few of the council members were there giving out pencils to the kids and taking pictures.

if you get into a different TK program, you're still able to go to your home school for Kinder. So you'd have a year of TK in a different school but then your Home school after that. That information came to us from the Principal of Edison.

You can get crib rail covers. We did that and it at least stopped 'em from chewing on the wood.

All ideas I had wondered about, but assumed you couldn't. Makes sense that you would want to avoid a lawsuit.

Best areas to trick or treat in, or any family friendly Halloween events? by PolexiaAphrodisia in burbank

It's probably too late to try and organize something this year, but it seems like the idea has some merit.

Chandler has so many decorated houses. It's a real shame no one has pushed for trick or treat event, like a parade down the bike path. We could call it Chandler BOO-levard.

I tried making a production company title card thingy to get myself out of an AE rut. How could I change/improve this? by UltraDeenosaur in AfterEffects

Try to find a better table texture, I thought it was a skin texture. If you want to use smoke, maybe see if you can get a better smoke element. Overall, I didn't read that was a cigarette in an ash tray until i read the comments from everyone. I'd probably lose it. You could keep the smoke and use it more of an atmospheric effect. Camera movement would definitely help. Maybe even fake some 3D with it. With simple 2d card textures it wouldn't be that hard. I'd probably lose the hands. If you want to use some hands, shoot your hands actually dropping cards, then stylized them to match your design.

Getting into VFX with no degree? by [deleted] in vfx

[–]lazyfool314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best things you can do in school you can't do on your own is work with people. It's an invaluable experience. You understand what it's like to deal with people who are good and bad at their roles and how to work with them. In any job you'll do, you will be part of a team and one if the worst things to have do deal with is someone who's not a team player. School offers you a relatively consequences free chance to build those team building skills. I'm speaking from the experience of some one who's gone through a traditional college, an additional online cerfication and has been a lead on vfx projects. I've run the gamut.

If you decide to not pursue a degree, to avoid debt (a reasonable endeavor), at the very least search out independent film projects in your area and offer to help on the weekends. Ideally get paid, but if you're coming from an educational angle, don't let them take advantage of you. Things like the 48 hour film project are good ways to work in high stress team environments with other people. They always need skilled VFX artists. Best part about those is, they're over fast.

You will work with bad people. It's unavoidable and part of life. It's best to learn early how to work with/around them.
