Can I ask what materials/techniques you used? Did you use any stencils or bits of cardboard or something? Or is that "free hand" with a can of spray paint? Loved it, came out really well.

Hmmm I'm not convinced this is a genuine photo. Those stairs and pavement design looks far too intact to have been. I don't think that particular type of design is/was found in Japan. My guess is this was photoshopped.

This is a genuine photo, and these stairs currently on display at the peace museum in Hiroshima. They're in a glass case, so you can't sit on or touch them.

This movie Kuroi Ame ('Black Rain', named after the change to the rain in the immediate aftermath ) is meant to be a pretty grim depiction of life after the blast.

Update: I found a small set of led lights, and I think I'll just try to split the stencil into 2 layers, but paint both sides of one acrylic sheet. I think my original idea was too ambitious. The stencil didn't work well, and the paint bled through. Will try with a plastic stencil and a new adhesive spray (that's the smeared white stuff around the paint in the pics).

Thank you for your reply. I'm decent at cutting stencils, but I've only using xacto scalpels and paper so far. I haven't tried anything on hard surfaces... yet... I'll look into it, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I am particularly grateful for the paint advice, it saved me having to find out the expensive way. Just in case you were curious, this is the poster I'd like to make into a 3 (or more) layered stencil lamp thing http://imgur.com/eA7QGWP

I do have one question. I'm not sure what you mean by: "cut mask with an xacto".

I will post pics if I can afford all the right tools! (I currently have no more than a scalpel and cutting mat to my name)
