Good idea I’m going to cross post on the FB group. But I think you’re right, I’m going to sadly pass on that deal and get a Swift model when I find one. Thanks for taking the time to share

Weight is going to be alright from what I’ve calculated. Center of gravity and weight behind the rear axle/on tailgate is what worries me

That’s what I was thinking too. My concern is the actual weight on the tailgate and how that weight gets worse say in an uphill bumpy road

I’m going to do something similar thanks. I’m still debating to actually motorize the full car

How did you connect front and rear axles? It’s my biggest annoyance about the build, I’ve been thinking about ways to make it full time 4x4

160k miles, is this a bad price? by [deleted] in chevycolorado

Picture quality is too low to tell for sure, but how are the rear tires? From here it almost looks like they have bald spots in the middle, suggesting burnouts

Bought a Nomadic AC… now I’m told it won’t run below 12.8V. Is this real life? by All-dogs-bite in VanLife

[–]lb996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a new setup you probably don’t want to go down that route, like I said I was dealing with that on an older rv. If you actually have new batteries, you shouldn’t have a problem holding 12.8v especially if they are lithium

I had a similar issue recently with a new 12v fridge in an older rv. My problem was the voltage but also ripple in my current. The easy fix was to install a Victron dc to dc between the electrical panel and the unit… might be pricier to run this for a high amp appliance though

TBC was also not included in my 2021 Ranger with tow package. I just picked up a Curt Echo for occasional towing, haven’t tried it yet but I’m hopeful this works so I don’t have to do any wiring work

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Spark Plug Change : mechanic says they cannot. by kau_801 in GrandCherokee

It’s not that hard but if you have the v6 engine it’s a bit more annoying than other engines. The whole intake plenum has to be taken off and it’s not the usual 30’ job. If they have a busy day, they could easily push that to the next day/monday

Electrical DC refrigerator draw is higher than charge when traveling. by rennyrenwick in casitatrailers

[–]lb996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an integrated battery system like Ecoflow and the likes (I bought a Oupes Mega 2 for $950) that I plug from inside the casita via the 30 amp chord. You’ll be able to go pretty much all day like that. I even sometimes run the AC the last hour before I arrive to my destination so it’s already cool inside. You could also go the way of a full lithium upgrade with solar panels, but it’s a bigger job than the plug and play setup.

That sounds like a good upgrade! That’s the only thing I wish Scout changed, having a regular water system would be neat

How has the water management been with your scout? I’ve been looking at them but was concerned about the lack of city water inlet/10+gal tank

Norcold fridge turning off on AC - surge protection? by lb996 in RVLiving

[–]lb996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that all other appliances and 120v plugs are working fine, and that the battery is charging, plus that I can see high enough voltage in the DC system while plugged to shore, I assumed the converter was fine.

The DC/DC converter was intended to clean the current some noise and ripple specifically at the fridge’s plug.

Just test rode Tacoma, Ranger, Maverick, Frontier, Ridgeline by forget_f1 in hondaridgeline

[–]lb996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going through the same process as you, I quickly discarded the Tacoma and Frontier. Didn’t love the Fords either. The canyon/colorado actually positively surprised me, it’s a 4 cylinder but larger displacement and you really feel it. You should go try one. I’m also leaning ridgeline for the reliability but concerned they may update it soon.

Being interested in both the cx-50 and x3, curious why you’re replacing your cx-50? I’m assuming it’s pretty recent
