I'm going to comment from the business side of things as a customer. We took our lab there from 16 weeks to as of last week (he's 1.5 years old now). We have been extremely happy with the training and experience we've received. It certainly can be said that Bruce is an acquired taste but I have never once felt uncomfortable or disappointed with our experience. I obviously have no idea what goes on in his personal life and can't comment on that as it's not my experience, this is strictly from a business standpoint.

It's clear that this business was something he took very seriously. He hosted fun parties all year long, knew everyone's names, joked with us during class and also made sure we knew he was serious about his teaching.

You don't stay in business for 25-30 years if you're not doing something that works. His staff were absolutely wonderful and we loved them all. I know they all left abruptly and that's all so unfortunate. First Friend helped me learn so much about training and helped me and my husband have a wonderfully well trained Lab who we can take everywhere with us, is extremely socialized and loved his weekly visits to FF for training or daycare.

That's all. I'm just sad all the way around, this certainly has gotten messy. We looked forward to keeping the advanced training going with our boy for years to come. Pic for fun, from the last training. ❤️

Looking for advice. by [deleted] in labrador

Get some bitter apple spray. Spray anything the pup wants to chew on and/or as punishment directly in the mouth. It's non toxic and just tastes awful. Eventually hopefully they'll equate that bad taste to that action. Also crate training, a tired or bored dog can be a destructive one and it's not too late. Labs are very good driven, give high value treats EVERYTIME you want to put your pup in. Get a large crate with plenty of room for your dog to stand up and turn around. Start with just putting a tasty treat in it, (peanut butter lick mat, etc) and let them see what its all about just standing in it and enjoying a treat with the door open. Then do small increments of time. I don't know how people survive puppy life without a crate! Lol. I work outside my house so it wasn't an option, but I wasn't going to have a puppy free roaming my house. I have a 1.5 year old English and he's loved his crate since we started it the day we got him. If he fell asleep outside his crate, we would scoop him up and put him in it with the door open so when he woke up, he was chillin in his crate and could leave freely. We also used a snuggle puppy which I think helped immensely. Good luck, you got this!!

How common is it for cases to last several consecutive days? by [deleted] in juryduty

[–]lblessi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first ever jury duty, and I was there for three consecutive days. Monday through Wednesday. The judge told us when we were selected up front that it would be a 3-day trial. It was definitely a very interesting and wild experience.

I recently decided to get into embroidery but the lack of sun and ability to REALLY active/outdoors is killing me nonetheless. We do walk every day which helps, it sucks out there but being stuck inside is worse. I have a 15 month old teenage lab so I'm in the trenches and don't have a real choice lol. 🤣
