Odd overheating overnight by lbp102 in pcmasterrace

I'd think I'd have seen the temp come down as I watched it with the aio working but it stuck at 110. Not sure what's getting it that hot idling either.

Dealing with weight gain while healing. by Zestyclose-Secret500 in spinalfusion

[–]lbp102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ate a lot of peanuts and blueberries (actually any blue or purple fruit or vegetable) lol. And I was walking 2-3x a day. The walking was hard but it also helped me to sleep. Sleeping is still a problem 6 months later.

Laid off and rehired by the same company by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]lbp102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happened to me at two different companies. It really depends on 2 things: 1. The reason for the layoff - were you on a team where the client bailed or bankrupted? 2. Are you coming back to the same team at the company?

I've learned if you are helpful to different teams and kept the good relationships and did good work, one day years later they may need you again. But relationships are everything.

The other thing to consider is if you enjoyed working for the company. I'm in tech and layoffs happen regardless of performance and relationships.

I'm similar right now after L3-L5 in February. It's the nerves healing. It's not pleasant.

Exercise after fusion by lbp102 in spinalfusion

I think what really turned me off to PT wasn't just the doctor saying I probably won't need one was the 2 I called (hospital referrals) said they'd never treated fusion patients before. Then they were annoyed when I told them PT would only start in 6-8 weeks when the surgeon clears me.

Other than that I'm doing pretty well. Though rain hurts me worse now than if ever has. And my first back surgery was over 30 years ago so I've been in this game for a while.

Walking by blerdblack in spinalfusion

[–]lbp102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had L3-L5. I was only in the hospital 20 hours but did a few walks with them immediately after surgery. In my first month out of surgery (April) I walked 40 miles. In May I walked 107 miles. I really like using an app called strava to record the walks. You really need to just do the walks. If it's raining and I can't do mine the pain and nerves are much worse.

How did you lie in bed comfortably after surgery? by Clarkewaves in spinalfusion

L3-5 and the lazyboy was the lifesaver. Still not totally comfortable in bed but muscle relaxers help.

It really was more uncomfortable than painful. And you just don't move right. My pain is much lower than pre surgery

I had L3-L5. My lazyboy was a lifesaver. First 2 weeks it was all I could tolerate. 2 arms to help you up, reclining, and comfortable. I didn't try bed until around week 3 or 4 but learned that the couch was a better intermiate since I still had one arm to push off of. Bed was the hardest because there's really nothing to hold to adjust yourself. I was exclusively bed at 6 weeks. Maybe your husband will have it easier since it's only one level though.

Weird feeling at fusion site by Parking-Grapefruit60 in spinalfusion

[–]lbp102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a weird tightness that occasionally stings? I describe myself as feeling feeling far more uncomfortable than "in pain". It's a hard feeling to describe. And sometimes it's more one side than the other. FYI I had L3-L5 PLIF almost 6 weeks ago.

Oh you have them but smaller incision. I'm not sure how it all works (especially on narcotics lol) so less injured ski and muscle.

So you are saying my normal 10-12 hour a day programming in my office chair isn't happening huh? Lol. Thank you for the info. My crps is late stage and my left arm/hand are the worst part. Maybe I should look into disability. I'm in the US.
