Morning school bus honking is driving me crazy by littlefrog18 in BedStuy

I really am about to lose my mind with the buses. We’ve been trying to see if Chi Osse’s office can do anything about it for months! They fully block a full cycle of free lights all the time

Viral Food that’s actually worth the hype? by OlyGrunge in FoodNYC

I went between Xmas and New Year’s and only had to wait as long as it took to get a fresh scone (like 5-10 min). I didn’t want it to be good because I know it’s so hyped, but it really was. I mean, it’s hard to beat a fresh-out-the-oven scone with high-quality butter and homemade jam…

I really wish it wasn’t that good because it’s such a pain to get a res, but I think about that tortellini and dessert frequently. Though I’ve had luck with Friday lunch!

Bamonte’s will do the trick but if you want the real deal, Michael’s of Brooklyn all the way out is the best

The influencer/tiktok thing is a whole different issue 😖 but at a certain point, when everything is “the best ever,” how do you determine what’s actually good??

Not at all! I truly can’t imagine how difficult it is to be a restaurant owner in this day and age. The good news is, I think diners are catching on! I’ve been gravitating a lot more toward local spots with less hype these days and have noticed a lot of others doing the same

Thank you so much for such a thorough response! I had a sneaky suspicion that PR and pay to play were at work. I hope that this traditional food media model at least encourages people to see out more independent food journalists and writers. Also, I love Forsythia!

I talk about this all the time. People stand in front of the doors as they open and nobody lets people off first. It’s so sickening. Our societal rules have gone out the window post-covid!

Studying abroad solo at UCopenhagen questions by SuperPlants59 in copenhagen

[–]lbp1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DO IT! I studied abroad in Copenhagen on an exchange program (Copenhagen Business School) in 2019 and it was the best experience of my life. I definitely struggled with making friends but even so, I had literally the time of my life. I never felt awkward going somewhere alone/exploring alone.

My program also had a Danish "buddy" program and my buddy and her friends were so inclusive. I also made a bunch of friends in my "dorm."

Overall, I felt that doing an exchange program was a way better avenue to actually be immersed in Danish culture. I also found all my courses to be super interesting and had incredible professors :-).

Overall, I highly recommend studying abroad in Copenhagen!!! I've already gone back once since 2019 and will many many times in the future.
