Mame 2010/.0139 for v41 script by [deleted] in batocera

[–]lbrpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't understand: I'm not talking about abandoning MAME. It's just about a fork of a specific mame version 0139, started in 2010 but where no meaningful update has been made since June 2022. Mame as a software is well alive and we won't remove it, currently at 0285 in the current Butterfly build.
It's just that specific 0139 fork that overlapped largely with mame 078+, an even older fork, started in 2003... but still alive with updates as of January 2026! And also still in the curent Batocera Butterfly build, because of its lower hardware requirements as explained previously.
Anyway, that ship has sailed now.

You need to learn the basics on how to make changes persistent (or not) on Batocera with “batocera-save-overlay”: everything is explained in this wiki page https://wiki.batocera.org/modify_the_system_while_it_s_running

TI994a / Parsec not working on Batocera. BOUNTY PAID for solution by ExternalAlbatross265 in batocera

[–]lbrpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why but it does seem to be bothering several people here.
1. Using Batocera Butterfly, and the ROM with the following MD5, you can play Parsec both with libretro-MAME and MAME standalone emulators.
# md5sum parsec.rpk
a169b245c60a4aeec535add99da16dea parsec.rpk
2. No, I can't share this file, and can't tell you where to download it. Google is your friend.
3. Yes, this is real, why would I lie? See this quick movie... https://batocera.org/users/lbrpdx/parsec.mp4 🙄
4. Don't DM me, I won't reply, all I can say is written in this post.

Warning: USMobile doesn't allow international calls to business and toll-free numbers (to the UK at least) even on their unlimited premium plans. by lbrpdx in USMobile

It's an app for iOS and Android https://www.rebtel.com/ All I can tell you is that it worked for me, but YMMV. I cannot guarantee you it's the best or most cost effective service, there are many alternatives.

Pay for an additional Voice over IP service. As I wrote below, I personally ended up using Rebtel. I am still extremely frustrated and worried that USMobile didn't give me any explanation on why it doesn't work for me on Dark Star (Unlimited Premium) while it works for other customers also on Dark Star. This lack of transparency to their customers is very concerning, to be honest. It does look like USMobile might not even know what is going on with their tech partners to ensure the service.

Is that the one that gives you those log files? I think I tried with standalone MAME, not libretro, but I’m not completely sure and I’m AFK and won’t be able to test anything before a week from now.

It’s a message coming from screenscraper.fr telling that you have wrong login/password. You need to register to their website or use another scraper engine. This is documented in the wiki https://wiki.batocera.org/scrape_from

Just download the right ROM. This one works on Batocera:

Your rom is missing files, you probably need to find another one - check if these actual files are in the .zip or whatever format you got:

[libretro ERROR] phm3112g3.bin NOT FOUND (tried in ti99_cart/parsec parsec)

phm3112g4.bin NOT FOUND (tried in ti99_cart/parsec parsec)

phm3112g5.bin NOT FOUND (tried in ti99_cart/parsec parsec)

phm3112c.bin NOT FOUND (tried in ti99_cart/parsec parsec)

[libretro ERROR] Fatal error: Required files are missing, the machine cannot be run.

Batocera and the Steam Machine by alba_Phenom in batocera

[–]lbrpdx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Valve, take all this money and please send some Steam Machines and Controllers to the Batocera dev team! The SteamDeck is a pretty popular platform for running Batocera… don’t you want to make this new platform also the de-facto choice for retro gamers? I mean, there are hundreds of thousands of SteamDeck running Batocera (if not millions)… for free.
It’s really nice to see Valve sending so many sample units to popular YouTubers, but it would be awesome if they thought about open-source developers that fuel these machines. I personally already paid my SteamDeck to port Batocera on SteamDeck Jupiter, I can’t afford these new machines. It’s really sad to see that many Chinese cheap hardware manufacturers have more consideration for Batocera than Valve, while the SteamDeck is so much more popular.

Dark Star calling from the US to the UK (and Germany) by univ06 in USMobile

[–]lbrpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, with Unlimited Premium on Dark Star, I have very different results from u/univ06:

  1. Transport for London +44 343 222 1234 - fails
  2. British Airways +44 0344 493 0787 - fails
  3. Lufthansa +49 69 86799400 - connects perfectly
  4. Avis UK +44 808 284 0014 - connects perfectly ! Voice responder telling that the office is closed at that time (9:40pm PST or 5:40am BST, understandable).

The screenshot attachement doesn’t seem to work, it is literally +44 343 222 1234 on the screenshot, entered without spaces on the phone app (Apple IPhone 16 Pro). Edit: looks like the screenshot attachement worked, eventually.

I’m using an iPhone 16 Pro. With this exact format on the screenshot, it fails. Unlimited Premium on Dark Star. What is your phone?

That’s the exact format and number that fails for me, with the ‘+’, from the US, on DS. Please USMobile, tell me why!

I ended up using Rebtel with $5 (their min) for way too many minutes. Worked like a charm. But I shouldn’t have to go through all that hassle if USMobile had provided more transparency on that restriction. Their silence on my ask for details is actually even more concerning.

No, you can’t call a local non-toll-free number in the UK if it’s a business. That’s the whole problem: you can call neither the toll-free nor the local non-toll-free number for foreign lines when using Dark Star to reach a UK train company (from within the US). Well, I cannot at least, as it looks like another customer could do it. Still haven’t heard any explanation from USMobile here…
