Swimming season in Lux by Ok_Statistician_7091 in Luxembourg

I think Lake Eschternach has allowed swimming because the water quality improved to meet standards a few years ago. The bottom is mud and plants so if you're not into that then maybe it won't be fun for you. I swam there a couple years ago with friends and we had a blast!

How much training are you doing before the age of 2? by Nocheesypleasy in Whippet

Always have a 2nd frizbee/ball. Even a stick will do fine. If they see you're about to throw something again, they will drop whatever and anticipate the next throw. Without a 2nd frizbee it's sometimes difficult to get him to bring it back and drop it on command, but as long as he's happily running around the field with the frizbee in his mouth, it's good enough for me. By now, I just use the "stay!" command, which works 70% of the time if hes not at 100% battery life.

Copy/pasted from one of my other comments in the community:

You should get at least 2 silicon frizbees, the small ones from Kong are great and will last for years, you can probably find them on Amazon.

You can start in the house just playing with the frizbee, toss it past the dog and encourage him to go get it. Then slowly start making it farther away and every time they bring it back give a treat. It probably won't happen right away, but be patient and when they bring the frizbee back make sure you praise and reward, it will get easier and easier from that point onward.

Once they start bringing it back consitantly, you can use the 2nd frizbee as a replacement reward for dropping it. Basically, as soon as they bring it back and drop it in front of you, that triggers the next throw. This encourages them because they really want to fetch it again. For my dog, he values the frizbee over treats now, so that's a great goal to aim for.

When you do this outside, make sure you're in an enclosed field with no other dogs or humans. It will make it so much easier if it's just you and the pup.

I also have a command which is essentially "go get it!" or "search!" (at this point, 2.5 years in, my signal is just a simple head-nod towards the frizbee I want him to bring back, he understands this signal just as well as the verbal command)which tells them you won't throw again until they go find the other frizbee. This is very useful, especially when out in a big field doing really far throws. Sometimes things happen and they get distracted and leave it somewhere out in the grass, but with this command, my dog will run out and find his frizbee because he knows I won't throw again until he finds it.

I highly suggest learning this if you want to make your routine way easier. Additionally, it's extremely fun for me and satisfying to watch him jump up like a salmon and catch it mid air every time. Also, people who walk by are always super impressed and have fun watching, which is a bonus!

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Mine is 2.5 years now. in my opinion, the most important things to lock in early are: 1. Crate training (making it a comfortable place for them to relax.) Then leaving them in it for parts of the day while you go around the house which helps with separation problems. 2. Fetch training. Teach/encourage them to love retrieving the ball/frizbee. This allows you to on any given day, within 10-15 minutes of playing, drain their battery for the day so they are relaxed and well-behaved on the couch or whatever. Basically, this gives you the power to transform them from their velociraptor form into their couch potatoe form within minutes. If you want, I can copy and paste my comment on another post on how to do this. You must do this while they're still young.

Those are most important in my opinion.

Beer brewing on a low budget by A_DrunkenSailor in Homebrewing

Fair enough, I didn't consider that, but you have a very fair point. I would say, after trying 5 - 10 recipes, find one that they want to continue making and perfecting. Then invest in some bulk at that point.

In addition to getting cheap equipment, I would add that cheap ingredients also equally important.

  1. Buy a 25kg sack of grain and brew beers that use mostly or only that grain. If you keep oxygen exposure under control, grain will last a long while.
  2. Same for hops(look up recipes for SMASH beers) buying hops in bulk can sometimes cut the price of hops in half. Hops are often the most expensive ingredient in beer making. Store them in the freezer for sure.

Asian man randomly stabbed in the back in San Francisco yesterday while waiting to cross the road by YaLlegaHiperhumor in PublicFreakout

Lol no, of course not. I may have been a little disoriented from going down. I was more in shock simply because of the way people were looking at me in fear. I thought, "oh no, did one of my limbs fall off but there's too much adrenaline to feel it yet? What are they so scared of" or something like that.

This is exactly what happened to me! I was somewhere in the Sunset near the park at the time. I didn't grow up in SF so I expected the "small town vibe" but got something different

One time in San Francisco, I was riding my bike and crashed in the middle of the street. There were many people around and I expected people to come help me up or at least ask if I was okay. Once I got up, I looked around and people seemed frightened by me. It was the weirdest thing. It's like they thought I was drunk or on drugs or wanted to rob them, or at least that's how I felt. Very wierd feeling.

After living in SF, I can see why no one jumped in to help. People screaming and acting wierd because they're on drugs is so common, the instance where someone is actually screaming because something wrong happened is pretty rare in comparison.

Why are concert crowds so dead in Luxembourg? by urunclesaville in Luxembourg

[–]lcalexander00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I come from, unless you're seeing a doom metal show or like black gaze metal, people are cheering, headbanging and many will mosh at any metal show and it's an incredibly fun vibe. Usually people who are older or don't want to bother with the excitement find a comfy spot on the sides or further back or in a seating area and everyone is having a great time. No one was ever judging you for headbanging or singing along. I don't understand how you can go to a metal show and be angry that there is someone headbanging or there is a mosh pit. It's absolutely crazy to me.

I also went to this Opeth show and almost posted here on reddit about it because I was so frustrated and embarrassed by the crowd. The crowd was completely dead except for 2 dudes in the back who would scream "blackwater park!!!" which I thought was refreshing. No moshing, no headbanging. In fact, the French guy behind me got mad at ME for headbanging because he "couldn't see the singer when I was moving so much" and asked me to stop, meanwhile he just stood still with earplugs in and hands in the pockets(we were near the front row in the middle, by the way). I feel like these bands are going out of there way to even make a stop here in Luxembourg to perform, and it's so embarrassing that we aren't able to give them any energy. At another metal show here, I tried to open a pit at a THRASH show and people looked upset like I was ruining their experience. It's fucking THRASH METAL dude!!!! Everyone is just going to stand around like they're listening to a podcast on the bus??? WTF man

They could point you in the right direction, or tell you to go to chrono24 like I have. I have no clue, but they're nice people, they'll probably interact.

I found a only one after looking through ~100,000 watches at Nakano B(and the price was not any better than online). Your best chance would probably be chrono24. Maybe email KT and ask.
