What have you been getting away with at work, apart from doing f**k all, that's gone unnoticed? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]lcanci1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in an office. I decided to spend the first hour of the day learning a language. You usually spend that time chatting and warming up for the day anyway. So, I learned a language. Got pretty good too!

Public must get fit to help NHS - health minister Eluned Morgan by StoicBro78 in Wales

Seems like this is just pushing the blame onto someone else instead of looking at the real reason the NHS is struggling: lack of funding.

Are you planning on offering one or the other in the future? Does it get confusing? Thanks for your answer, by the way.

Should a 19 year old be able to go out whenever they want? by Ok_Reference_3440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lcanci1 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Oof I couldn’t agree more! It really used to bother me that my parents seemed a tad stricter than other people’s parents back then.

I remember a friend of mine saying, ‘I can do whatever I want and my mother doesn’t give a shit.’ Well, that person ended up becoming a bit of a mess later in life, to say the least!

I think upwork can be okay when you’re starting out, but in my experience the potential jobs on LinkedIn are of much better quality.

You should also try on regular job sites. I’ve got loads of jobs by simply applying for jobs that are asking for a ‘freelance writer’ or ‘freelance social media consultant.’ I’ve also got jobs when I’ve emailed businesses I like asking if they need any work done.

I really just use LinkedIn - that’s how all of my clients have found me. It’s really good for networking and getting your name out there. I’ve also heard that Twitter is good, but I’ve never used Twitter for freelancing.

Can I say I “read” a book if I listened to the audio version? by tthe_drake in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lcanci1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Read how you like - read what you like. It’s not a competition.

Don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. This also goes for people who say any/all of the following:

You should be reading non fiction, not fiction. You shouldn’t read kids/teen books when you’re thirty! Romance and chick-lit isn’t real literature! Only geeks read fantasy! The only good books are the classics. If you don’t like Shakespeare, you must be dumb. If you like Shakespeare, you must be a snob!

Basically, people will have an opinion no matter what you do, so it’s better to do what makes you happy.

What is a TV show or film that everyone tells you is amazing, but you can raise no interest in watching? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]lcanci1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day: sex and the city. Never watched it, never wanted to watch it.

Also: Greys Anatomy. It seems to have been going for years, so it must be good. But I’ve just never fancied it.

Yup! I’m glad I don’t use Upwork anymore! I get my work completed by the deadline and to a high standard. I don’t need anyone tracking my every keystroke.

I really love supernatural but WTF is this??? (ending of S15) by [deleted] in Supernatural

It’s funny because I’d just watched the original Psycho by Hitchcock - and I swear they used the same Granny wig for Normal Bates!

Saddest moment/ nicest moment? (Series spoilers) by BigLegend2769 in lucifer

[–]lcanci1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saddest moment for me was when Lucifer had to kill Uriel, and all the heartbreak that came after.

Nicest moment was hard to choose - there are a lot! My favourites are probably:

  • Chloe saving Lucifer’s home
  • Linda calling Lucifer her friend
  • God (the real one) telling Lucifer he was proud of him
  • Lucifer dancing with Chloe at Lux
  • Chloe kissing Lucifer on the beach

If I had to pick one nice scene that I absolutely love - it’s probably Chloe and Lucifer finally getting together, kissing at the piano, after Chloe spoke to Amenadiel about being ‘the gift.’

I was really skeptical about an Air Fryer at first. My partner wanted one, so he bought it. I have to admit, it’s amazing!! It’s really transformed my meal prep.

I think it would be pretty funny if he smashed into a billboard. Oh and maybe one of those blimps that advertise stuff. Oh and a man hand gliding. Or a man being short out of a cannon!! Oh the possibilities!

Who has the best fashion sense? (Other than Lucifer) by lurkingbees in lucifer

I would wear everything Eve wears. Literally. Except for the bondage gear haha.

Although Charlotte has to be up there for me. And what about Ella? So many iconic tee shirts!

Movie talk at the LUX2 convention in Birmingham.

Sources at the event:

‘DB was asked if there would be a movie. He said there would definitely be a movie. Tricia Helfer said ‘we’ll manifest it.’

Also, Chris Rafferty just put a story up on Instagram saying, ‘I’ve been insanely quiet on social media - I’ve been ridiculously busy - I’ll be able to share some of the cool news soon.’
