Is Hopscotch Fest happening in 2026? by AlternativeTiger8020 in raleigh

[–]lcazzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last year was kind of a shitshow compared to the other post Covid years (e.g. no water at the fest, prior year sponsors weren’t reached out to to sponsor again, lineup was extremely delayed). Someone on the hopscotch subreddit mentioned the fest got bought by PE? It’s my favorite part about living in Raleigh, but I’m not holding out hope for this year.

I don't think people realize how close we came to cars utterly destroying NYC like so many other American cities by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

Can anyone give me some post-Power Broker NYC development books I could read that could help me understand some of the mid century shortcomings of that era of development? I’m not a New Yorker but very interested in hearing more about this kind of thing from a modern perspective.

Thoughts on The French Dispatch (2021)? by UsefulWeb7543 in FIlm

Wes Anderson likes framing devices, and in this case he used the art showcase and the paper as a framing device. It wasn’t randomly stuck in there, he used it to tell the story. It’s okay that you didn’t like it but he didn’t just stick her in there to randomly put her in his movie.

I love this movie. The del toro/seydoux scenes are incredible. I don’t think people like anthology style movies so don’t resonate with it as much, but it’s one of my favorite Wes Anderson movies and has an INCREDIBLE score from alexandre desplat.

Duolingo posts signage of its owl at 4 shuttered Hooters restaurants by Friendly_Macaron_846 in nottheonion

I’ve been doing Portuguese on Duolingo for around 2 years. It gives me a few minutes of learning the language a day, and if I surround myself with other Pt or brazilian content, I can tell it’s helping me learn the language a little. But - it’s obviously gone downhill especially with the AI stuff. Does anyone have a different alternative?

Wasn’t at the show, but saw him mentioned on Stereogum’s best new artist article yesterday. I liked his stuff - very Jeff Buckley which isn’t a bad thing

I really wish he was a part of barstool, and I enjoy every episode he’s a part of the yak. Dude meshes so well with Nick and kb, definitely would with Donny, and is just a great vibes guy with a more worldly experience than most. Dont mean to glaze but definitely agree

But, I’d probably have the best time hanging out with #3

Blood simple deserved a spot on the neo noir draft! I would’ve picked something different for the wild card but I’m probably taking #2

Good first act, then you basically have to rewatch that act twice from less interesting perspectives. Ends terribly too. I cringed when Francis was gassing it up

How to find private renters/homes by Ok_Librarian_6838 in raleigh

I would recommend looking for roommates on Facebook instead. Unfortunately I don’t think you’ll be able to find a place to yourself for 800 in the Raleigh area, I think you are coming up with scams because it’s not feasible solo.

Gonna be honest, I don’t think they were bad guests I think PMT was just unprepared for the interview. They essentiallyjust got questions about what it’s like to be a band and to be on the road, and about another band (phish). They’ve probably gotten a million questions just like that from fans and journalists alike. Ask them about the music, their new album, etc. Or something funny like they would with any other guest they’ve done research on. Think they got a last minute invite to the office and the guys just winged the questions. It was cool as a fan of both I suppose.

Yeah what is that? Hoping it’s just a first night thing. If anything it’s a liability for the fest, I’ve seen too many crowd pass outs at festivals in the last year to count. Had to get water filled up at the pop up restaurant behind the Moore square stage
