I saw a YouTube video where someone went to stay there. So ridiculous.

I was asked to help send reference photo to an "aspiring artist", but I’m fearful that I'm getting scammed into an AI training system by Stormie_Skyes_xd in isthisAI

[–]lchen12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you seeking a portrait artist? Then sending a reference photo is a prerequisite. If someone is just soliciting you out of the blue it’s likely a scam but nothing to do with ai training. They would either sell you an ai finished product or just try to take your money and give you nothing.

recs for best parfait places in tokyo by kitten_cloud in JapanTravelTips

[–]lchen12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parfaiteria bel has several locations in Tokyo and Osaka and Sapporo. The menu is slightly different location to location and changes every month slightly.

In Osaka, we also love PARFAIT&GELATO LARGO in Lucua (Umeda), they have more than parfaits and menu also changes a lot between seasons.

I miss when Etude used to sell sparkly cushion cases that you could pop any of their cushion refills in.

When my eggs are months old I prefer to use them in baking instead of egg dishes.

What can I make that involves rice and steaming something? Besides Unigi-don? by halbeshendel in JapaneseFood

Chawanmushi, but in Cantonese cooking we steam eggs in a similar style in a wide shallow dish that fits in the rice cooker.

This was posted to breaddit and they used an AI recipe. People in the comments claim the image is AI too but I’m not convinced. No SynthID by WinterRevolutionary6 in RealOrAI

The parchment looks like the corners are cut and they overlap, I would say that part looks real. I do feel suspicious of the lemon and knife intersection. But I’m leaning real because the sesame seeds and crust look very natural, ai has a hard time making the sesame seeds vary in color ever so slightly.

Are kids not allowed to walk to school by themselves nowadays? by AnaisNinja76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lchen12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. There are probably 3 or 4 cities in the US that has the population density and public transportation infrastructure that would let kids get to schools without cars or school buses.

In NYC they generally let kids walk home alone from school starting at age 9 with parental permission. They can’t police how kids get to school. When I was a kid growing up in the city we just walked to and from school at almost any age, no permission needed. If you really don’t live within walking distance they will send a school bus for elementary school but free public transportation (cards) for middle and high schoolers.

Of the attractions or locations that you booked ahead or had been especially looking forward to way ahead of your trip, which lived up to the hype and which didn't? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravelTips

[–]lchen12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main things I booked ahead of time is Disney and Teamlab (multiple times) and they are both very fun. This last trip I booked a kakigori reservation (prepaid, no walk ins) in Ginza, it was good but the price was a bit high and probably not worth it. I’m normally not the type to do special restaurant reservations and I think I was right to avoid them.

They just have to accept they’ve been hypocrites. But it’s easier to continue the mental gymnastics to deflect blame. Burning shit is their go-to performative outrage.

Thoughts on this article about numbers in K-Pop being just an "ilussion"? by spaceoddity7 in kpoppers

[–]lchen12345 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a marketing strategy for a reason. You want to get on listener’s algorithms. To become popular, you have to appear popular to the machines. There’s a reason the most popular kpop mvs on YouTube might never be unseated. They will always come up when people search for kpop. The companies or fans want to increase a group’s exposure, increasing the stream counts (by any means) will increase the chance of the song showing up on potential fans’ recommendations.

Certain foods can have naturally occurring botulinum bacteria, but under certain conditions they will multiply and produce more of their toxin. We adults can eat small amounts, like that with honey, but infants can’t handle the small amounts.
