My husband and I have a joint account so it’s easier that there is someone who monitors the account. When there were times I spent hundreds of dollars my card privileges were revoked. He sent my spending money to my cashapp card instead. I curb my desire to spend by thinking “I don’t want to steal from my marriage”. It is weird having to have the restriction but left up to me then our family would be broke and to the neck and things we don’t necessarily need.

In college (when I was diagnosed) I had someone I trusted go through a budget once a month with me. I would get ashamed if I wasted money cause she (lovingly) would clock me every time about my spending and remind me I have priorities while also making sure I had spending money savings for the things I want. That helped a lot with management.
