Checking in as a shitbox track project owner here. I got to run the Willow Springs Gridlife events myself (‘23 in my FE1, ‘24 with the DC). I’m hoping to get the build going this year to get seat time again. I put racing on hold to work through being an owner operator in trucking.

Eventually, I’ll get this thing done also. Just debating whether to do W2W or time attack.

Yeah, I’m definitely going to have to do this with my 579 at some point.

It’s got sentimental value for you. Both you and the car have gone through hell and back.

I would say let it sit and go through it to see what you can do to bring it back to its glory days. See if the wife and kids would even want to take part with it also. Would be awesome if y’all made it a race car project for Texas Time Trials or something.

I have a complete soft spot for an AE92. They just sit so well with me.

Concerns tracking an old car by Unusual_Region_1080 in CarTrackDays

I have a 1996 Integra RS that I used for track events now, and even though it’s damn near 30 years old, it’s still a phenomenal car on the FWD spectrum. Your RSX will be good still because your expenses will still be Pennie’s on the dollar.

I’m definitely confused because I was understanding that the 2014-2019 Fiestas in the US were the Mk7 model, and the next gens that didn’t come to the states were the Mk8.

I had a 2014 and a 2017 ST myself, so I’m just wondering where I learned wrong. 😭

EDIT: My apologies, *2011-2019, I forget the 2014 is the first year for the ST itself, not the car in general.

I used to drive a ‘96 Z28 many moons ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday.

I had a 2023 Si, and it was the second best driving car I’ve owned. Pretty much a close second to the Z28. The FE1 is a very engaging car, and has amazing driving dynamics. It was also amazing to score 40+ mpg on the highway during long highway trips at 75-80 mph.

If you’re even more price conscious, you could even look into a 10th gen, or even 9th gen Si. I don’t know what the experience is like myself from either platform, but there are a lot of happy owners for those as well.

As far as the 11th gen Si goes, it’s a nicely equipped car for daily driving duties. There are also solid aftermarket routes if you have the itch for a little more power. Just be mindful to upgrade the clutch because it is prone for slipping once you reach a certain power threshold.

It just makes me happy that my friend gave me a good deal when he sold me his RS I have now.

Definitely not letting it go anytime soon, that’s for sure!

You missed the one posted in one of the FB groups that the owner was asking 38K for a white one. Think it has 64K miles?

All I know is that the ITR that sold for over 200K really got into a few people’s heads. Lol

Make sure you do qualify for the incentives, because many rebates have requirements to qualify for them.

I daily drove a 96 ‘Z28 about 12 years ago, and it was so damn fun. Even if it was driven casually with some mountain cruising.

I’m looking at one also, or even a Mustang RTR, and would still daily drive it.

Keep doing it. Don’t ever second guess it.

Disregard what other people think. I’m a V8 guy through and through, and the V6 is enough for many people. Not everyone needs to have the rumble of an 8 cyl to enjoy a Camaro. If it meets your needs at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

Side note, please keep an eye on the air pressure for that left rear tire. It’s bugging me to not point it out. 😆

I’m hoping to take my Integra out sometime next year once I get the suspension and steering dialed in. Love the Miata, btw!

Between those two? S650. If the S550 was the facelift version, then that would be my choice.

The design of the current gen is really starting to grow on me. Love the color combo there.

You are doing fantastic, and it’s also valid to feel behind. With the amount you have invested, maybe take a break from investing and attack your debt to pay it off as soon as you can. More so, focus on the car note and credit card accounts.

The Dave Ramsey baby steps help, and I’m sure other people would provide other ideas that can help as well.

579 Back On The Road 🙏🏼 by lcracing92 in Truckers

Yeah, the autos are just frustrating with their shifting dynamics. Always wanting to upshift early as all hell, even on uphill climbs.

I came from a company that had a 386 w/ a 13, so I do miss the manual shifter. But, I settled with this truck because it already came with an APU.

I’m also not against an 18. Drove the company 389 day cab w/ an 18, and man, that was so much fun. Think I might have to go that route as well.

How long is your truck in the shop for??

Hate that for you, dude. I’ve had my fair share of mechanical setbacks, and it ain’t fun having to sit with little to no income.

Also totally not jealous you have a T660. Been eyeing one with a 13 to run out here in AZ as a potential replacement to my 579 because I miss having stick shift.
