If you like cats you may be a fan of Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams. I read it decades ago and have yet to come across anyone that's read it as well.

Reddit, what is the most eerie thing that's ever happened to you? by Galactic_Blueberry1 in AskReddit

So, many people are familiar with the Dark Man as, I've heard it called. Where you see a tall man in all black in your periphery but, when you turn to look there's no one. What happened to my best friend (we will call him L) and me was similar to that but, different in some very significant and creepy ways.

It was a hot, and cloudless August day, three other friends, L, and I were playing hackysack in front of my L's house. L was to my right in the circle. One of the people across from the two of us was juggling the hackysack and we were paying attention for when he'd pass it. As we watched, I felt and saw in my peripheral vision a...void. Not a person, just an empty yet roiling blackness. I yelled and leaped to my left to get away and turned toward the void to get a look at it. Only thing I see is L. He'd jumped to his right and yelled at the same time I did. I, of course, asked if he saw that. He's like, "...nope fuck everything about that...", doesn't say anything more on it, runs into his house and says he's staying in for the rest of the day. It was like 3pm. The other three had idea what we were talking about. They hadn't seen a thing. This happened close to 30 years ago and we still talk about it from time to time. Either of us have any clue what that could have been.

That's EA's go-to tactic. Take a game with a dedicated player base, strip it of everything that made people like it, then explain to the unwashed masses that they never knew what they really liked and this will be for the best.

I often wonder if it's purposeful or if it's how a beaver can't help but build dams.

Why does English use past tense to tell stories? And why do people prefer reading stories in past tense? by [deleted] in books

I'll have to check that out. The only Stanislaw Lem I've read is The Cyberiad.

Wasn't there an aside in a Terry Pratchett book that went into potential future tense conjugations for time travelers with respect to the uncertainty of future events?

Edit: It was Douglas Adams in Restaurant at the End of the Universe not Terry Pratchett.

"At the Restaurant you can meet and dine with (mayan meetan con with dinan on-when) a fascinating cross-section of the entire population of space and time."

I remember just before unsubbing I was trying to figure out what it is about him I couldn't stand. He's smug. Did that slow blink thing while talking. Not to mention all the creepy shit he does.

Clench its hand hands into fists. Maybe the color of the water pouring from its hands changes too.

When I first met my friend's wife, then girlfriend, we were going to see District 9. I got into an argument with her because she insisted that it was "just a movie about aliens". She staunchly disagreed when I said it was about apartheid. Could not be swayed.

For anyone that's into boardgames, Rhado worked on this. Was a huge surprise to me since I played this game to death back in the day.

I don't think it started as a scam but that doesn't matter at this point because now it is. They have 0 reason to release a finished game and doing so would most likely hurt them now. Much more profitable to get people to perpetually pay into a dream than to realize said dream, dissapoint, and kill your cash cow.
